Leon Bridges has a new album on the way. Happiness Anytime is out on September 25 via Columbia, and the Texas soul artist is today sharing the first of three four-song EPs that will complete the record. The new songs are titled ‘Light The Way,’ ‘Tears of Joy,’ ‘Illusion’, and ‘Your Love Is Electric.’ Take a listen below.
“For me, happiness is not a feeling that you chase,” Bridges said in a press release. “I want this album to be something that lingers with people and lingers in people’s bones. There’s this feeling that we have to fix the problems of the world; you feel inadequate or it can be debilitating. My role is to be light. I hope that comes across with this album.”
The follow-up to 2024’s Leon was produced with Jungle’s J Lloyd and Lydia Kitto across three sessions that also included bassist Pino Palladino. “We’ve been such big fans of Leon,” Lloyd-Watson commented. “We were keen to hit it off.”
“Leon said he wants to have music that he can dance to,” Kitto recalled. “He wants to have moments where he can put the guitar down and just dance and perform at the front.”
