My Chemical Romance are teasing a new album. We’re far from any details being revealed, but here’s everything we know about so far.
How long has it been since My Chemical Romance’s last album?
MCR’s most recent studio album remains 2010’s Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. The band broke up a few years later, reuniting in 2019 for a series of shows. More recently, they’ve been touring stadiums and celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Black Parade. But, aside from releasing the standalone single ‘The Foundations of Decay’ in 2022, they haven’t talked about making new music until September 2026.
What exactly have they said about it?
After announcing an expanded 20th-anniversary reissue of The Black Parade, MCR performed at San Antonio’s Alamodome on Saturday, September 12. Frontman Gerard Way told the crowd during the show, “We’ve really always wanted to make another record, so we hope that life allows us to do that. ‘Cause honestly, you guys kept us alive so long. You guys deserve another record. I don’t know when it’ll be, but it’ll be awesome.”

Have there been any other hints of new music from the band?
Not directly, but earlier this year, Hedwig and the Angry Inch creator John Cameron Mitchell hinted at a secret theater project with My Chemical Romance, which may or may not be related to a new album.
