Looking for a mystery comedy with a unique setting? Then you can’t go wrong with The Residence, a new Netflix hit series revolving around a murder that occurred at the White House.
If that intriguing premise isn’t enough, the show also brings on the laughs via a star-studded cast, cool twists, and a wildly eccentric detective.
The Residence quickly became the most-watched Netflix show in several countries worldwide. It has also been collecting positive reviews from critics, so it’s almost a given that we’ll see it comeback for seconds. At the very least, we’re keeping our fingers crossed.
The Residence Season 2 Release Date
The Residence premiered on Netflix on March 20, 2025. Soon after, it became the talk of the internet, with viewers gushing about the show’s excellent sets and overall quirkiness.
While the series hasn’t been officially renewed at the time of writing, the creator seems optimistic about its future.
“We’ll see how people feel about the show but I certainly would be lying if I said I hadn’t thought a lot about it, and didn’t have a lot of ideas about where it could go,” Paul William Davies told Deadline.
If all goes well, fans might get The Residence season 2 as soon as spring 2026. Hopefully, it will be a short wait.

What Will Happen in The Residence Season 2?
The Residence centres on a murder that took place during a state dinner at the White House. Detective Cordelia Cupp comes in to investigate, but she faces a tough challenge. With no shortage of rooms to inspect and suspects to question, determining everyone’s whereabouts and uncovering their secrets is no easy feat.
Thankfully, she doesn’t operate like other investigators, and won’t let a few tight-lipped staff members stand between her and the truth. As season 1 wraps up, viewers get answers. They find out not only who the killer is, but also how they pulled it off – and whether anyone else was involved in the proceedings.
With the mystery solved, a potential season 2 would likely tackle a fresh case. While investigating at the White House is fun, it could also move locations. The Buckingham Palace, for instance, would make for an equally alluring setting, don’t you agree?
Are There Other Shows Like The Residence?
