Destiny 2 added a Vanguard Alerts system in its latest update for December. The new feature gives more weekly challenges and rewards to players. At the same time, patch 9.5.0.1 brings several improvements to missions, abilities, weapons, and systems.
More than expanding its offerings, developer Bungie released this version to further build on the Renegades expansion. The reason is that it has helped the game recover from the failures of Edge of Fate.
While there is still a lot to fix, the studio hopes to see a jump in player count with the launch of update 9.5.0.1.
Vanguard Alerts in the Seasonal Hub
According to Bungie, the new patch adds a Vanguard Alerts page to the Seasonal Hub. Now, players can try the following alerts from this menu:
- Arena Ops Quickplay
- Crucible Ops
- Fireteam Ops Quickplay
- Grandmaster Vanguard Alert
- The Desert Perpetual Raid and Equilibrium Dungeon (once it unlocks)
These alerts will also remain available in the usual Portal nodes. Thanks to the new hub, tracking weekly activities is now easier.
Three Stages of Challenge
Along with the Vanguard alerts system, players will encounter three stages of challenge in the three Quickplay Portal alerts. In the same way, each stage requires completing activities from playlists.
In detail, fans can get a weekly weapon and a gear from the loot pool during the first challenge stage each week. It will be a special version, as it is already pre-Masterworked and contains a unique origin trait. For the second and third stages, they can earn two pieces of gear each. These rewards also result in four extra engrams for the week. Take note that these drops have higher power levels than the regular ones.
Features Outside the Vanguard Alerts System
Based on the announcement, the latest version includes fixes for activities. Specifically, this involves the Welcome to the Frontier, Imperium, Glory Beyond, and many other missions in the Renegades expansion. For Lawless Frontier, there are several changes in abilities. The improved areas are Imperium Behemoth, Vex Stun Field, Imperium Drop Pod, and Recon Shank.
On top of these, players can find tons of adjustments across gameplay and investment, localization, and general systems of the game. To see full patch notes, visit the official Destiny 2 website.
