Bob Dylan has announced a massive 27-CD box set capturing his 1974 arena tour with the Band. Due September 20, Bob Dylan – The 1974 Live Recordings features a whopping 431 songs – 417 of them previously unreleased, 133 of them newly mixed from the original 16-track tapes – as well as liner notes by journalist Elizabeth Nelson. Today’s announcement comes with the release of a version of ‘Forever Young’ that was recorded live in Seattle on Saturday, February 9, 1974. Listen to it below.
In addition to the CD box set, Third Man Records will release a 3xLP vinyl box set called The 1974 Live Recordings – The Missing Songs From Before The Flood, featuring versions of every song from the 1974 tour that was not included on the original tracklist for the Dylan and the Band’s live album Before The Flood. The set will be available exclusively through Third Man’s subscription series, the Vault.
