Originally active from 1997 to 2000 before reforming in 2014, American Football is arguably the most important band in Midwest emo. The band was formed by guitarist, bassist, and singer Mike Kinsella, guitarist Steve Holmes, and drummer and trumpet player Steve Lamos, with Mike’s cousin Nate joining in 2014. Since their iconic self-titled album, they’ve released three more LPs bearing the same name: in 2016, 2019, and 2026.
