allie, the mononymous moniker of Allie Cuva, has shared a new track called ‘cast iron’, which features production from Ryan Hemsworth aka Quarter-Life Crisis. It serves as the 16th installment in Saddle Creek‘s Document Series, and you can check it out below.
‘cast iron’ follows allie’s debut album, Maybe Next Time, which was released earlier this year. According to a press release, ‘cast iron’ explores allie’s “interpretations of the philosophical language and sentiments of certain people in her life. The repeated phrase ‘I know what you really mean’ is not intended to be patronizing, but rather is meant to illuminate the fact that we as humans are often confused/misled about why we think, speak, believe, and act the way we do.” Cuva said of the song: “Oftentimes, there are clearer, more sober ways to represent ourselves, and I’m interested in that journey.”
The 7-inch, which is available for pre-order, is out on January 14. Of the B-side, ‘infinite jesters’, Cuva explained: “Though my favorite relationships have been fortified over many years, further realized in writing this song that some relationships can be particularly impactful from their near inception. In other words, a lot of good can happen quickly if we’re open to it.”
