Lana Del Rey has announced she has a new country album in the works. The singer-songwriter confirmed her plans for a new LP, titled Lasso, at Billboard’s pre-Grammy event in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.
Del Rey took the stage to pay tribute to Jack Antonoff, who’s competing for his third consecutive win as Producer of the Year, Non-Classical at this year’s Grammys. ”If you can’t already tell by our award winners and our performers, the music business is going country,” Del Rey told the crowd. “We’re going country. It’s happening. That’s why Jack has followed me to Muscle Shoals, Nashville, Mississippi, over the last four years – to write our album, coming out in September, called Lasso.”
The new album will follow 2023’s Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, which earned the singer five Grammy nods, including Album of the Year and Best Alternative Music Album. Her song ‘A&W’ is up for Song of the Year and Best Alternative Music Performance, while ‘Candy Necklace’ with Jon Batiste is nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
Back in December, Del Rey shared a cover of the John Denver classic ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’.
