Billie Eilish has finally announced her third album: Hit Me Hard and Soft arrives on May 17. The singer revealed the album title and release on Instagram, where she has been teasing the follow-up to 2021’s Happier Than Ever for several weeks. The album is meant to be listened all the way through as a cohesive body of work, Eilish said, and there won’t be any singles ahead of the release.
The LP “will be available on all digital platforms, and in a continued effort to minimize waste and combat climate change; across all physical formats in limited variants on the same day, with the same track-listing and using 100% recyclable materials,” according to a press release. (Eilish recently criticized the practice of releasing multiple vinyl variants to boost album sales.)
In 2022, Eilish surprise-released the Guitar Songs EP, which featured the songs ‘TV’ and ‘The 30th’. Last year, she contributed ‘What Was I Made For?’ to the Barbie soundtrack, winning Song of the Year at the 2024 Grammys and Best Original Song at the Oscars.
