Okay Kaya has returned with a new song, ‘The Groke’. It marks her first independent release since 2018’s Both. Check it out via the accompanying Julia Patey-directed video below.
“I was thinking about ‘The Groke’ as an apt lore of the Nordic countries brutal seasons, and about how climates around the world are getting more temperamental,” Kaya Wilkins explained in a statement. “The chorus end sentence is borrowed from Timothy Morton’s Dark Ecology.”
“Our goal was to create a unique cinematic translation of the music, without using any visual references to guide us,” Patey commented. “So we wandered together blindly into the unknown and this was the result”.
