New York-based nonprofit 603 Arts Foundation will present its inaugural exhibition, The cataclysm of binary star systems, at Nunu Fine Art from 8–29 August. Bringing together twelve artists from across the globe, the exhibition explores themes of identity, migration and collective memory, asking what values humanity might choose to preserve in the face of an uncertain future. The presentation features artists including Keb Cerda and José John Santos III, whose practices examine contemporary social and cultural experience through distinct visual languages.
Founded by Kate Lee and Clovis Lima Jr., 603 Arts Foundation is dedicated to supporting emerging artists worldwide, with a particular focus on practitioners with roots in Asia and Latin America. Alongside building a permanent collection, the nonprofit aims to foster cross-cultural dialogue through exhibitions and partnerships with galleries and cultural institutions.
Among the exhibiting artists, Filipino visual artist Keb Cerda is known for combining traditional painting with video game aesthetics, augmented reality and interactive media to critique issues such as surveillance and media addiction. Fellow Filipino artist José John Santos III works across painting, collage, assemblage and installation, crafting works that combine naturalism and dreamlike imagery.
