Alex G Shares New Song ‘Pain is the Heart of Love’ Featuring the Blue Nile’s Paul Buchanan

Alex G has teamed up with the Blue Nile’s Paul Buchanan for ‘Pain is the Heart of Love’, an eerily poignant track from the soundtrack to Jane Schoenbrun’s new film, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma. Check it out below.

The film marks Alex G third time working with Schoenbrun, following 2022’s We’re All Going to the World’s Fair and 2024’s I Saw the TV Glow. The latter featured a live performance cameo from Phoebe Bridgers, whose brand new album, Lost Weekend, Alex G co-produced.

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma follows a young director (Hannah Einbinder) who takes on a classic horror franchise and, in the process, becomes obsessed with the reclusive actress (Gillian Anderson) who played the original series’ final girl. The soundtrack also features tracks by R.E.M., Sally Shapiro, Donna Lewis, and Okay Kaya.

Alex G’s latest album, Headlights, arrived last year. Paul Buchanan issued his most recent solo album, Mid Air, in 2012.
