Sharon Horgan is back with a new series that shines a light on what it’s like to juggle responsibilities during middle age. Turns out, this is a time when searching for love becomes increasingly complicated.

What Is Youth About?
In Youth, Sharon Horgan plays Alex, a literary agent approaching a crucial turning point. Her teenage son Ruari is supposed to leave for university, giving her the freedom to focus on herself again. She wants to date and figure out what the next chapter of her life might look like.
Unfortunately, her plans are derailed. Ruari returns home under troubling circumstances, Alex’s parents need help, and work is no picnic. She also might be hung up on a casual hook-up. Still, Alex doesn’t give up on her desires, and the show portrays her struggles with both humour and heart.
“The title comes from 50 being the Youth of old age and I felt I had things to say about that. It is beyond a labour of love. Hope you like it,” Horgan wrote on Instagram.
While Youth season 2 isn’t a sure thing just yet, there’s still a big chunk of season 1 to get through. Episodes arrive weekly on HBO Max, with the finale scheduled for November 1. If you’re excited for a coming-of-age story set later in life, hit play immediately.
