It’s no secret that, for many, The Office (US) has become a comfort show, the kind they rewatch regularly. Luckily, they now have a follow-up to diversify their media diet.
The Paper, which already ran for two seasons, boasts the same mockumentary format, this time focusing on a team running a declining newspaper. With positive reviews from critics and fans alike, it has the potential to run for years to come. Will it? Here’s what we know so far.
The Paper Season 3 Release Date
At the time of writing, there’s no news about a potential The Paper season 3.
The series streams on Peacock in the US, which has yet to renew it. In the UK, the second season premiered earlier this month on Sky/NOW. For now, all we can do is wait and see.
If all goes well, new episodes could arrive around September 2027.

What Is The Paper About?
The Paper follows the same documentary crew that previously filmed Dunder Mifflin as they turn their cameras on the struggling Toledo Truth Teller, a historic local newspaper fighting to survive.
At the centre of the story is editor-in-chief Ned, determined to restore the paper’s reputation. Unfortunately, he has limited money and an inexperienced staff. Among them is former Dunder Mifflin accountant Oscar Martinez, who finds himself back in front of the cameras. Before long, the newsroom becomes a chaotic but close-knit workplace as employees try to figure out whether local journalism still has a future.
In season 2, Ned is obsessed with finding a major story. He and reporter Mare are secretly dating, creating the usual complications of an office romance. By the time the finale wraps up, the couple is in limbo. While he admits to the cameras that he loves her, Mare is reluctant to return to the Toledo Truth Teller after taking another job.
“I think we would get a Season 3, because you wouldn’t want to necessarily leave the characters in that position! We thought that was a nice Act 2 break, and the sort of setback you’re hoping gets fixed next season,” co-creator Greg Daniels said.
Fingers crossed that The Paper season 3 gets to pick up from there.
