PUBG: 2025 Roadmap and New Releases

Player Unknown Battlegrounds, better known as PUBG, has recently announced its 2025 road map, outlining new features, exciting new content and new gamemodes.

The game was one of the premier ‘battle royale’ shooters, pitting up to one hundred players against each other in a huge last man standing deathmatch.

It shot to its place as one of the most iconic shooters of the last decade during the COVID-19 lockdowns, where players fell in love with the game’s unique gameplay and the replay ability the battle royale format brings.

The game has not slowed down since, remaining one of the most popular games of the genre eight years after it originally launched in 2017, and the developers are showing no signs of slowing down, here’s what’s coming to PUBG in 2025.

New and Improved PUBG Game Modes

While the game rose to fame through its iconic battle royale mode, the developers have added a host of new permanent modes in the past like Team Deathmatch and Intense Battle Royale. This trend will continue with planned improvements to the current modes and a return of popular modes like Hot Drop.

The developers have also announced that they plan to co-develop new modes in partnership with other game studios, including a mode inspired by the Payday games, in collaboration with Starbreeze Entertainment.

Focus on Interaction and Environment

The developers are focused on improving how players interact with the map and features of the game. They have announced various polishes will be coming to how players interact with vehicles, doors and how their character throws objects, making the game feel more fluid and realistic.

Additionally, to make the game’s world feel more interactive new objects like gas tanks that can be damaged and destroyed, and AI animals that roam the environment will be implemented to add “new tactical layers” and “dynamic and varied gameplay experiences”.

New partnerships with real world automotive brands will also give the game a new feel by allowing players to create “their own car” based on their favourite real life models.

Expansions to the PUBG World

While PUBG won’t be seeing an entirely new map, the developers have committed to launching a major refurb of the iconic world, “transforming the old beloved maps, offering completely new ways to experience them”.

Additionally, seasonal updates will bring a unique temporary changes to the maps, offering “fresh atmospheres and gameplay experiences” and ensuring players want to come back each season to try out the new exclusive changes.
