With early access well under way, fans are eager to hear what is next for Assetto Corsa EVO.
The game saw its early access testing start in January, with plans for a full release in Autumn of this year.
However, developers Kunos-Simulazioni have since removed the full release from its road map, saying the full game will be released “only when we can do so with confidence.”
So what’s next for the embattled racing sim?
Upcoming updates and key features
The game’s early access release was a significant milestone in development, with it being the “most successful in the story of the franchise“, according to Co-founder and Executive Manager of Kunos Simulazioni, Marco Massarutto in a recent video.
However there are still a number of key features that fans are awaiting, including online multiplayer and the ability to free-roam around the towns, roads and countryside in Germany, near the Nürburgring.
There are also still hundreds of new vehicles that need to be added to the game in the upcoming early access updates and the full release.
According to a poll from Traxion, fans are most excited about online multiplayer coming to the game, while free-roam came in second place.
Improved modding tools and VR support were also high on many racer’s agenda, suggesting they are looking for more ways to experience the high-speed thrills Assetto Corsa EVO offers.
Full release data and consoles
To date, Assetto Corsa EVO has only been confirmed for a full release on PC, which has historically been the franchises most popular console.
However consoles remain a huge market for the game, with almost 40 per cent of sales coming from their users.
Although, a release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S is still on the cards, with the previous two iterations, Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione both getting console drops later on.
Further evidence supports this, with a financial report by Kunos’ parent company and publisher 505 Games and Digital Bros confirming that the next Assetto Corsa will come to console, but Traxion believes this will not happen until the PC version sees its full release.
While the game will likely be available across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, some aspects like modding and online driver swaps are likely to remain PC exclusive as they have in previous iterations.
