The Murder Capital Share Video for New Song ‘Return My Head’

0

The Murder Capital have shared a new track, ‘Return My Head’, the latest preview of their forthcoming record Gigi’s Recovery – out January 20 via Human Season Records. Following previous cuts ‘Only Good Things’ and ‘A Thousand Lives’, the single arrives with an accompanying video directed by the band’s own Gabriel Paschal Blake. Check it out below.

“’Return My Head’ was written in a place of pure frustration, feeling like our sanity had been unwillingly removed through periods of isolation,” frontman James McGovern explained in a press release. “All I wanted at this point was to get my head back, and to throw it away again. But on my own terms. ‘Return my head, and throw it to the crowd’.”

Blake had this to say about the song’s visual:

I wanted to show the rag dolling that can occur to us going from one state of being to another, while always remaining being the same person. The extensions of ourselves that we create to protect ourselves even when we’re alone, and the evident and necessary advice that we receive to continue following and perusing our passions from our friends and family, demonstrated by my own family friends Megan, Nic, Ruairí and Pump.

To me, ‘Return My Head’ is the desire to return your mind to a place of peace and stability, and the belief that to do so, is possible. We shot it in my old secondary school recreational hall. We produced it ourselves. At its best to me, the narrative of the ‘Return My Head’ about coming back to a safety.

Ask Yourself These Questions Before Buying a Walk-In Bath

0

Most homes have a generic or drop-in bathtub in their bathrooms. It is nearly a common bathroom fixture to allow family members a good bathing experience. Typically, the setup includes a showerhead. The bathtub is often fixed to one wall of the bathroom. It is enclosed to allow people to sit on its ledge or stand in the tub when they shower.

If you are building a new bathroom or renovating your existing one and considering replacing your generic bathtub, here are a few ideas and questions to ask yourself before choosing a new bath.

How to choose a walk-in tub

It is important to research and consider various aspects before deciding which bathtub to purchase. It would help if you understand the various types of walk in baths, the features to look for, and the questions you should ask.

Types of walk-in tubs

  • Soaker. A deeper walk-in bath that allows users to immerse their entire body while seated in the walk-in tub.
  • Hydrotherapy. The tube includes water jets that massage the joints and muscles for pain relief.
  • Aerotherapy. Instead of water jets, the walk-in tub has an air jet system that releases air jets and massages certain body parts. However, air jets are more suitable for people with sensitive skin.
  • Aromatherapy. This type of walk-in bath uses an aerotherapy or hydrotherapy system to release essential minerals into the bath water for a spa-like experience for the bather.

Questions you should ask

  1. What is the size of your bathroom?

Walk-in tubs, including walk in bath shower, have different sizes. Thus, measuring the area where you want to install the new bathtub is important.

  1. How old is the plumbing system in your home?

The age of your plumbing system will matter. If it is very old, you need a professional plumber to ensure the plumbing system can pass Part H of the building regulations. Remember that the user has to stay in the walk-in bath while it drains.

  1. Do you have any mobility issues?

Your mobility is important. If you find stepping over a 20-centimetre step difficult, choose a walk-in bath with the lowest threshold. If you have trouble lowering and getting out of a sitting position, look for a walk-in bath with a higher seat.

  1. Can you afford a walk-in bath?

Your budget is a key consideration when purchasing a walk-in bath. The current price range is between £1,500 and £5,000 or more. Thus, it is necessary to determine the budget you can afford because you should also consider installation costs and other miscellaneous expenses.

  1. Does your bathroom need additional support?

It is important to have a structural engineer inspect your house and bathroom if it is your first time installing a bathtub because a walk-in bath is heavy. As it takes several litres of water, the weight of the bath increases, which puts pressure on the bathroom floor. Ensure that your home’s foundation can support the additional weight.

Your answers to these questions will help you decide whether you can purchase, install, and enjoy the benefits of a walk-in bathtub.

Check it out below, alongside a video filmed by Ed Tucker at the Total Refreshment Centre and edited by Yoshino Shigihara and Plain.

“I think this is a sort of a celebration song dedicated to scummy situations retreating – relief when you are able to have the clarity and freedom to just trot off!” Plain explained in a statement. “It changed so much from how it started and took a couple of hilarious and surprising-to-me new turns. Then we just deleted the guitar. Then I went to Danalogue’s (from The Comet Is Coming and Soccer96) studio and he topped it up with some of his trade mark good ear good vibe.”

Prize is set to arrive on January 13 via Memphis Industries.

Mac DeMarco Announces New Album ‘Five Easy Hot Dogs’

Mac DeMarco has announced a new album, Five Easy Hot Dogs, which will be out on January 20, with a vinyl release to follow on May 12 via Mac’s Record Label. Check out the album’s racklist and cover artwork below.

The new LP is a collection of instrumentals recorded while DeMarco was on the road. “The plan was to start driving north, and not go home to Los Angeles until I was done with a record,” DeMarco explained in a press release. “Kind of like being on tour, except there weren’t any shows, and I’d just be burning money. Some places I stayed longer in than others, some of them I knew from the past, others not so much. I tried to keep things busy all the time. If I didn’t know what was up in a city, I’d just walk around ‘til someone recognized me and go from there. I met a lot of interesting people this way, and had a bunch of cool experiences.”

He added: “The nature of ripping around and recording and traveling in this manner doesn’t lend well to sitting around and planning or thinking about what it was that I was setting out to do. I didn’t ever have a sound in mind, or a theme or anything, I would just start recording. Luckily the collection of recordings from this period all shake hands, they have a present musical identity as a whole. I was in it while I was in it, and this is what came out of it, just the way it was. This record sounds like what rolling around like that feels like. I hope you enjoy.”

Last month, DeMarco continued his annual tradition of sharing Christmas covers with a rendition of ‘It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas’.

Jouska, the project of Oslo-based artist and Sassy 009 bandmate Marit Othilie Thorvik, has announced her second album, Suddenly My Mind Is Blank. It arrives on February 17 via Koke Plate, and today’s announcement comes with the release of a new single, ‘Death Sentence’, which follows September 2022’s ‘Why’d You Leave Me In Red’. Check it out below.

“’Death Sentence’ was the first song I made for this album,” Thorvik explained in a statement. “It’s about being in a toxic relationship and the struggles of leaving. It feels like you’re gonna die if you stay and that you’re gonna die if you don’t. So you end up clinging on to it because it’s all you’ve ever known.”

Since the release of 2020’s Everything is Good, Jouska has evolved from a duo with Hans Olav Settem to a solo endeavor. “Throughout this process I’ve worked on becoming a better producer and songwriter,” she added. “I’m liquid when it comes to music. My mind is set on making something emotional and refreshing. Some people might find my music schizophrenic, but playing with different genres and moods is what makes Jouska what it is.”
