Everything But the Girl have announced a new album titled Blue Reservoir. The follow-up to 2023’s Fuse is set to arrive on February 19 via Buzzin’ Fly/Virgin Music Group. It’s led by the tender bossa nova tune ‘Young and Dumb’, which is accompanied by a video from director Edward Bishop. Check it out and find the album artwork and tracklist below.
The new video was shot at the London venue Moth Club, where Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt performed a residency last year that served as an inspiration for the new LP. “There was an intensity and simplicity to the MOTH shows that took us back to how we started out,” Thorn recalled. “Direct, rooted in guitar and voice, a few extra colors. We hadn’t been in that world for a long time, and it just felt fresh and real.”
Watt ended up writing and performing much of the new material on a Spanish nylon-string guitar. “It is the sound of so much of the music I first connected with growing up, and I’d never actually owned one,” he explained. “It became quite an emotional springboard for me. I found a voice I thought I’d lost.”
The duo recorded most of the album live at London’s RAK Studios, with a band that included double bassist Rex Horan, drummer Evan Jenkins, and percussionist Fabio de Oliveira.
