Marika Hackman has announced her fifth album, False Dogs. The follow-up to 2024’s Big Sigh is slated for release on February 19 via Chrysalis Records. It’s led by the stirring opening track ’33’, which arrives alongside a video created by JOFI Films. Check it out below, and scroll down for the album cover and tracklist.
“’33’ grapples with the dull ache of nostalgia, the apprehension of the future and the celebration of the moments in between – keep pushing, it’s worth it,” Hackman explained in a press release.
Hackman plays almost every instrument on the new album, which she produced, arranged, and wrote herself. She mostly worked on it at her East London studio, followed by a ten-day stint at Ramsgate’s Big Jelly Studios with help from previous collaborator Charlie Andrew as well as her wife, Polly Mackey, aka Art School Girlfriend. “I think this truly is the first record that I have fully inhabited my creative skin right up to its edges,” Hackman said.
