Shygirl’s New Album: Everything We Know So Far

Shygirl has a new album on the way. Her sophomore LP, SWALLOW!, comes out November 6 via Because Music. Here’s everything we know so far.

How long has it been since Shygirl’s last album?

It’s been four years since the release of Shygirl’s debut album, Nymph. She followed it up with two EPs, 2024’s Club Shy and 2025’s Club Shy Room 2, and opened for Charli XCX on her Sweat tour.

What’s the story behind the album?

Shygirl started writing SWALLOW! at a coming-of-age moment in her life. According to a press release, “Shygirl calls SWALLOW! a reintroduction. During sporadic, unhurried sessions, Karma Kid made everything maximalist, while Casey MQ fine-tuned the delicate moments. Shygirl realized she didn’t need to leave her electronic roots behind to find something new.”

In an interview with Sleek, Shygirl explained: “The starting point was wanting to articulate how happy I was, or am. I had recently fallen in love and turned 30, and I guess I’d taken a little bit of a break after my last album. I started working on the music at the end of 2023. A lot of it was congratulating myself on the decisions I’d made before and how I got here. It’s nice to have that perspective when you’re in a really good place. You can congratulate yourself for all the ways it took you to get there and not be regretful of anything.”

What does the album cover look like?

What about the tracklist?

The full tracklist has not yet been revealed, but we do know it opens with two already-released singles, ‘Alyse’ and ‘Lucky[Hymn]’.

How does SWALLOW! compare to Shygirl’s previous projects?

In that Sleek interview, Shygirl said “this music is probably the most explicit and personal in terms of emotionality and vulnerability.” She added, “Ultimately, I really want people to understand me and I want to understand myself. There’s a lot of love in the record, but the same themes people are used to from me are still there too: desire, tempestuousness. I have a very contrary nature.”
