Perfume Genius Announces New Album, Shares Video for New Single ‘It’s a Mirror’

Perfume Genius has announced a new album called Glory. The follow-up to 2022’s Ugly Season is set for release on March 28 on Matador. Today’s announcement comes with the release of ‘It’s a Mirror’, which is accompanied by a Cody Critchloe-directed video. Check it out below, and scroll down for the album artwork, tracklist, and Perfume Genius’ upcoming tour dates.

“I wake up overwhelmed even when nothing is going on,” Mike Hadreas explained in a press release. “I spend the rest of the day trying to regulate, which I prefer to do at home alone with my thoughts. But why? They are mostly bad. They also haven’t really changed for decades. I wrote ‘It’s A Mirror’ while stuck in one of these isolating loops, seeing that something different and maybe even beautiful is out there but not quite knowing how to venture out. I have a lot more practice keeping the door closed.”

Glory was produced by longtime producer Blake Mills. It was co-written with Hadreas’ partner Alan Wyffels, and also features guitarists Meg Duffy (Hand Habits) and Greg Uhlmann, drummers Tim Carr and Jim Keltner, and bassist Pat Kelly, as well as a guest appearance from Aldous Harding on ‘No Front Teeth’.

Last year, Hadreas reissued his 2014 album Too Bright to celebrate its 10th anniversary. He also appeared on Fashion Club’s ‘Forget’, which made our best songs of 2024 list.
