Netflix series Zero Day climbed to the top of the streaming service’s Top 10 charts quickly after its release.
With a tremendous ensemble cast led by Robert De Niro, the political thriller has an ambitious plot and solid performances. The conspiracy at the heart of the show gets muddled at times, but many viewers are excited to see what might happen next.
Despite Zero Day being advertised as a limited series, there’s still a chance they’ll get their wish. It happened to Beef, Good Omens, The White Lotus, and more recently Shogun. They all started as miniseries and were eventually renewed for more episodes.
Could Zero Day follow in their footsteps?
Zero Day Season 2 Release Date
At the time of writing, Zero Day hasn’t been renewed for season 2. However, the creators are not against expanding the show as long as there’s demand.
Co-creator Noah Oppenheim told TheWrap that he feels like they delivered a complete story, but that the showrunners often talk about what might happen next.
“I don’t know whether it would be a continuation of the situation with the character. It could very well be an interesting second part of what we’re going through,” Robert de Niro added about whether there might be more.
If that happens, fans will likely be able to see Zero Day season 2 sometime in 2026 or 2027.

What Will Happen in Zero Day Season 2?
Zero Day revolves around George Mullen, a former U.S. President called out of retirement to investigate a cyberattack that caused nationwide chaos.
As he looks into the events, he uncovers a complex web of corruption involving key figures in technology and politics. Not only that but people in his own inner circle might be involved as well.
The series explores themes of digital vulnerability and political manipulation, which makes it particularly relevant for our times. By the end of its six episodes, Mullen reveals the identities of those responsible, but his findings lead to significant political upheaval.
Zero Day season 2 would likely pick up from there and show viewers how the country dealt with the revelations. That would be anything but boring, as far as we’re concerned.
