What Is Star City About?
Set in the same universe as For All Mankind, Star City takes place after the Soviet Union wins the race to the Moon. The story unfolds inside the secretive Soviet cosmonaut training center known as Star City. There, scientists, engineers, astronauts, and intelligence officers live under constant surveillance.
The series blends political intrigue with space exploration. It’s about missions and rockets, sure, but also about paranoia and personal sacrifice. Every major decision is influenced by the Soviet state’s obsession with secrecy, so the greatest dangers come not from space itself, but from the government’s own security apparatus. From the get-go, you can expect a wild ride.
The story opens as the Soviet Union prepares its next major leap in the space race, sending the first woman to the Moon. While the mission promises another propaganda victory, tensions simmer. As the show progresses, relationships become increasingly complicated, creating an atmosphere where no one can be trusted.
While it’s a bit early to speculate about a possible Star City season 2, the first installment does a great job of building tension, to the point where you will find it hard to look away. The finale is scheduled for July 10.
