A third Legally Blonde movie has been in development for years. Luckily, fans of Elle Woods have something to tide them over. Prequel series Elle, available on Prime Video, centres on the high school version of the beloved character, showing how she became the confident woman who decided to attend Harvard University.
At only eight episodes, the show is a quick and breezy watch. Is there a chance it might come back for more? Here’s what we know so far.
Elle Season 2 Release Date
Thankfully, Prime Video renewed Elle ahead of the show’s premiere, so a follow-up is definitely coming.
Not only that, but it has been in production for quite a while. The series shouldn’t be on hiatus for too long. We expect Elle season 2 to arrive sometime in early 2027.

What Could Happen in Elle Season 2?
A prequel to iconic movie Legally Blonde, Elle follows the teenage Elle Woods years before she becomes a Harvard Law student.
Set in the ’90s, the series begins when a scandal involving her father’s plastic surgery practice forces the Woods family to leave sunny Bel Air for rainy Seattle. Far from her glamorous California life, Elle must adapt to a grunge-loving high school. There, she navigates new friendships and first loves, all the while trying to prove that optimism is a strength rather than a weakness.
Not only that, but Elle also investigates corruption involving her high school administration, discovering her voice in the process. Without giving away major spoilers, the first season ends with Elle making a bold decision and a love triangle in full swing.
Elle season 2 will likely pick up from there and continue to follow the protagonist during her high school years. Maitreyi Ramakrishnan is set to join the cast as Sam, the editor of the school’s newspaper. The two are likely to clash.
