Most Popular Types Of Gaming Videos On YouTube & Twitch

Gaming videos are one of the most popular types of content on YouTube and Twitch. From Let’s Plays and walkthroughs to sports and horror, there is a wide variety of gaming videos available. Let’s look at some of the most popular types of gaming videos on YouTube and Twitch and examine why so many viewers flock to them.

1. Battle Royale

Battle Royale games are some of the most popular games for gamers to watch on YouTube and Twitch. Games like Fall Guys and Fortnite Battle Royale have captivated audiences due to their arcade-style gameplay, vibrant colors, and the ability to play with friends. With easy-to-learn rules and exciting rewards, players are enticed to play and watch, creating an immersive experience for viewers and players alike. With party royale gaming, viewers can interact with each other, watch intense battles, and cheer on their favorite streamers. The combination of a unique aesthetic, simple gameplay, and an engaging community is what makes these games so popular.

2. Sports Games

Sports game videos are incredibly popular on YouTube and Twitch. Many gamers live stream themselves playing sports games like FIFA and NBA 2K23, providing an entertaining experience for viewers. These streams can be both educational and entertaining, and in many cases viewers can even watch the pros play and learn from their strategies. KSI first gained popularity through his YouTube videos with his first few videos relating to the game FIFA, which he was very passionate about, and has now gone on to be one of the top YouTubers in boxing. Some gamers even have their own YouTube channels where they post highlights, tutorials, and other content related to sports games.

3. Heist Games

Heist games are popular on YouTube and Twitch for a variety of reasons. For one, players of these types of games are often engaged in intense strategic planning and problem-solving as they try to complete their heist. Heist games such as GTA V provide an incredibly immersive experience. Players are able to create a unique character and take part in a variety of activities, such as car chases, shootouts, and more. This level of immersion keeps viewers engaged and allows them to become part of the story. Players are able to engage with each other and discuss strategies, share tips, and even provide helpful criticism.

4. Let’s Play

Let’s Play videos have become incredibly popular on YouTube and Twitch over the past few years. Let’s Play videos are recordings of people playing video games and providing commentary. Many gamers prefer to watch Let’s Play videos rather than playing the games themselves. This is especially true for younger gamers who may not have the resources to buy the latest games. Minecraft has been one of the most popular games for Let’s Play videos. This is due to the endless possibilities and creativity that the game provides. Players can create entire worlds, build amazing structures, and explore various types of Minecraft biomes. The videos are often filled with humor and excitement, making them fun to watch. YouTuber, ‘Dream’ gained popularity through making Minecraft Let’s Play videos and has recently made it to over 31.2 million subscribers.

5. Horror Games

Horror gaming videos have become increasingly popular on YouTube and Twitch in recent years. From first-person games like Resident Evil: Village to the popular Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF) games, survival horror gaming videos have built up an impressive following on streaming platforms. Horror games have a special charm, as they often have an immersive atmosphere and plenty of jump scares to keep viewers hooked. Markiplier is a popular YouTube celebrity who has gained fame for his horror game videos which feature him playing the latest horror games, ranging from indie horror games to AAA titles. Markiplier’s videos are known for their comedic edge and intense reactions, narrating his reactions to the jumpscares, adding to the suspense and humor of the situation.

Arlo Parks Announces New Album ‘My Soft Machine’, Shares Video for New Song ‘Weightless’

Arlo Parks has announced her sophomore album, My Soft Machine. The follow-up to the British singer-songwriter’s Mercury Prize-winning 2021 debut Collapsed in Sunbeams is out May 26 via Transgressive. It includes a collaboration with Phoebe Bridgers called ‘Pegasus’. Today, she’s shared the album’s lead single, ‘Weightless’, alongside a video directed by Marc Oller. Check it out below and scroll down for the album artwork, tracklist, and Parks’ upcoming tour dates.

“‘Weightless’ surrounds the painful experience of caring deeply about someone who only gives you tiny breadcrumbs of affection,” Parks said of the new single in a press release. “It’s about suddenly realising that a person has dulled your edges and embarking on the slow journey back to being a brighter version of yourself.”

Of the album, she added:

The world/our view of it is peppered by the biggest things we experience – our traumas, upbringing, vulnerabilities almost like visual snow. This record is life through my lens, through my body – the mid 20s anxiety, the substance abuse of friends around me, the viscera of being in love for the first time, navigating PTSD and grief and self sabotage and joy, moving through worlds with wonder and sensitivity- what it’s like to be trapped in this particular body. There is a quote from a Joanna Hogg film called The Souvenir, it’s an A24 semi-autobiographical film with Tilda Swinton – it recounts a young film student falling in love with an older, charismatic man then being drawn into his addiction – in an early scene he’s explaining why people watch films – ‘we don’t want to see life as it is played out we want to see life as it is experienced in this soft machine.’ So there we have it… My Soft Machine.

The National Announce New Album ‘First Two Pages of Frankenstein’, Release New Song

The National have announced their ninth studio album, First Two Pages of Frankenstein, which will be released on April 28 via 4AD. The 11-track LP was produced by the band at Long Pond Studios in upstate New York and features guest appearances by Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, and Sufjan Stevens. Lead single ‘Tropic Morning News’, out today, was co-written with lead singer Matt Berninger’s wife, Carin Besser, and partly recorded live in Hamburg. Check it out below and scroll down for the album’s cover art, tracklist, and the National’s upcoming tour dates.

Work on the new album, which follows 2019’s I Am Easy to Find, initially stalled as Berninger navigated “a very dark spot where I couldn’t come up with lyrics or melodies at all. Even though we’d always been anxious whenever we were working on a record, this was the first time it ever felt like maybe things really had come to an end.” The band eventually “managed to come back together and approach everything from a different angle,” according to guitarist Bryce Dessner, “and because of that we arrived at what feels like a new era for the band.”

Speaking about ‘Tropic Morning News’, Aaron Dessner said in a statement: “When Matt came in with that song in the depths of his depression, it felt like a turning point for us. It’s almost Dylan-esque in its lyrics and it’s so much fun to play; everything suddenly felt like it was coming alive again.”

“The idea of referring to the darkness of the news in such a light way unlocked something in me,” Berninger added. “It became a song about having a hard time expressing yourself, and trying to connect with someone when the noise of the world is drowning out any potential for conversation.”

Last year, the National collaborated with Bon Iver and the London Contemporary Orchestra on the song ‘Weird Goodbyes’.

Lia Kohl Announces New Album ‘The Ceiling Reposes’, Unveils New Song

0

Lia Kohl, the Chicago cellist and composer who has recently worked with the likes of Makaya McCraven, Whitney, Circuit des Yeux, Claire Rousay, and more, has announced her second LP. The Ceiling Reposes is set to arrive on March 10 via American Dreams Records. Accompanying the announcement is the new single ‘sit on the floor and wait for storms’, a track that “contains fragments of a weather report which, transcribed, make the bones of a lovely and strange little poem,” according to Kohl. Take a listen and check out The Ceiling Reposes‘ details below.

The recordings on The Ceiling Reposes are built from live radio samples recorded primarily on Vashon Island in Washington State. Approaching these samples as “found lyrics,” Kohl invited a group of poets and lyricists – including Kurt Chiang, Alyssa Martinez, Elizabeth Metzger, Corey Smith, Macie Stewart, Marvin Tate, and Karima Walker – to flesh them out. The resulting poems will be released online and as a zine along with the album.

3. when glass is there, and water,

Deerhoof Announce New Album ‘Miracle-Level’, Release Video for New Single

0

Deerhoof have announced their next LP, Miracle-Level, which will arrive on March 31 via Joyful Noise Recordings. It was produced by Mike Bridavsky over two weeks in July 2022 and marks their first album to be made in a proper studio from beginning to end, as well their first full-length sung entirely in Japanese. It features the previously shared song ‘My Lovely Cat’, as well as a new single, ‘Sit Down, Let Me Tell You A Story,’ which arrives today with a Noriko Oishi-directed video. Check it out and find Miracle-Level‘s details below.

“Seemingly out of nowhere, I was presented with a miracle-level opportunity to produce Deerhoof for two consecutive weeks at No Fun Club in Winnipeg, Manitoba,” Bridavsky recalled in a press release. “I began listening through their albums and realised: I have no fucking idea how to make a Deerhoof record. Did anyone? They’d assembled a catalog of thoughtful, wild, and unique records, each different from the one before. I was about to be inserted into a thriving creative organism that’s worked almost exclusively with each other, with unlimited control of every blip and bleep. This was the session I’d been dreaming of for my whole professional life – and I was terrified.”

“In my first call with Greg, I was relieved that we had an instant rapport,” Bridavsky continued. “Their biggest concern was dispensing with the months of obsessive tinkering that usually make their albums sound so beautiful and insane. He told me, ‘We don’t want to do our usual aggro control-freak thing. We’re going for bare-minimum production that doesn’t push the listener around.’”

By the end of the process, Bridavsky concluded, “We’d reached a level of mutual trust where the band was comfortable with me mixing alone. I’d send them away and when I felt a mix was ready, I’d call them back into the control room to listen. The look of excitement and accomplishment on everyone’s faces is something I’ll never forget. Satomi, Ed, John and Greg tried something different on this record, and the result is Deerhoof at their most sparse and vulnerable.”

Miracle-Level will follow Deerhoof’s 2021 album Actually, You Can.

Fall Out Boy Announce New Album, Share Video for New Single ‘Love From the Other Side’

0

Fall Out Boy have announced their first album in five years. The follow-up to 2018’s Mania is called So Much (for) Stardust, and it comes out on March 24 via Fueled by Ramen and Elektra. It’s led by the new single ‘Love From the Other Side’, which arrives with a music video directed by David Braun and Open the Portal. Check it out below and scroll down for So Much (for) Stardust‘s cover artwork.

“Technology has made it really easy to make records much more quickly these days. There’s nothing wrong with that, and that spontaneity can be exciting,” singer Patrick Stump said in a press release. “But we wanted to get back to the way we used to work. We wanted to make a record that was really lovingly crafted and deliberate and patiently guided – like someone cooked you a delicate meal. I’m not a very proud guy, but I’m pretty proud of this record.”

The new LP finds Fall Out Boy reuniting with producer Neal Avron, who worked with the band on 2005’s From Under the Cork Tree, 2007’s Infinity on High, and 2008’s Folie à Deux.  “Neal not only taught us how to make records, but has a unique capacity to really take time and focus on a record,” Stump added. “We thought it was a no-brainer to work with him again, on a record where that was very important to us, and he was gracious enough to agree to work with us.”

Wednesday Announce New Album ‘Rat Saw God’, Share Video for New Song ‘Chosen to Deserve’

Wednesday have announced a new album: Rat Saw God is out April 7 via Dead Oceans. Today’s announcement comes with the release of the lead single ‘Chosen to Deserve’, which is accompanied by a music video from director Spencer Kelly. Check it out below and scroll down for the album’s cover art, tracklist, and Wednesday’s upcoming tour dates.

“‘Chosen to Deserve’ is a writing exercise I gave myself to try to recreate the iconic song by Drive-By Truckers ‘Let There Be Rock’ but with my own experiences from growing up and fucking around and getting into stupid shit,” the band’s Karly Hartzman explained in a press release. “The video directed by Spencer Kelly shows the setting of my upbringing and antics: my parents’ neighborhood in Greensboro, NC and Lake Myers RV Resort.”

Rat Saw God will include the previously released single ‘Bull Believer’, which landed at No. 2 on our best songs of 2022 list. The 10-track LP was written in the months immediately after the completion of their 2021 record Twin Plagues and was laid down in a week at Asheville’s Drop of Sun studio. “I really jumped that hurdle with Twin Plagues where I was not worrying at all really about being vulnerable – I was finally comfortable with it, and I really wanna stay in that zone,” Hartzman said of her lyrical approach.

“Everyone’s story is worthy,” she added. “Literally every life story is worth writing down, because people are so fascinating.”

Last year, Wednesday put out the covers LP Mowing the Leaves Instead of Piling ’em Up. Revisit our Artist Spotlight interview with Wednesday.
