mui zyu Unveils New Single ‘Rotten Bun’

0

mui zyu, the moniker of Dama Scout’s Eva Liu, has released a new track called ‘Rotten’. It’s the latest offering from her upcoming debut full-length, Rotten Bun for an Eggless Century, which was led by the single ‘Ghost with a Peach Skin’. Check it out below.

“‘Rotten Bun’ brings us into the fantasy world where the record is set,” Liu explained in a statement. “Me, you, us, we, ‘the protagonist’ – takes in their surroundings of mouldy vegetation, witchcraft, magic and demons. The ‘rotten bun’ refers to the rotting heart of the lonesome warrior. We have to overcome these initial fiends who mock, bully, hurt by becoming strong enough whereby we are unaffected by their ‘rotten tongues’… A bit like a tutorial to a video-game where you are guided through the introduction and still have to destroy a final boss as part of your training. Lots of the metaphors in the record have been inspired by Chinese folklore in particular Pu Songlin’s ‘Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio’.”

Rotten Bun for an Eggless Century is set for release on February 24 via Father/Daughter Records.

Primavera Sound Festival 2023 Lineup Announced: Kendrick Lamar, Depeche Mode, Rosalía, Blur, and More

Primavera Sound Festival has announced the lineup for its 2023 edition, which will take place in both Barcelona and Madrid next June. Kendrick Lamar, Depeche Mode, Blur, Rosalía, Halsey, FKA twigs, St. Vincent, Calvin Harris, and more are set to headline, while Turnstile, Arlo Parks, Måneskin, PinkPantheress, Pusha T, Le Tigre, Wednesday, Japanese Breakfast, The War on Drugs, Christine and the Queens, Alvvays, Alex G, Fred again.., Caroline Polachek, Death Grips, Maggie Rogers, The Voidz, Nation of Language, Swans, Julia Jacklin, Four Tet, Yves Tumor, and Holly Humberstone are also scheduled to perform. Check out the full lineup below.

“Look for yourself in the Primavera Sound 2023 line-up… and find yourself,” a press statement from the festival reads. “Because we assure you that you are there. After twenty editions, the festival is the mirror in which the community that will come from near and far to Barcelona and for the first time to Madrid next June looks at itself and recognises itself, but after everything it has experienced, this reflection goes in two directions, marking the richest musical itinerary we can think of: Primavera Sound also looks for and finds itself in its own audience. The learning is therefore twofold, just like the venues where a line-up will be deployed in which everything matters, full of surprises and at the same time familiar.”

Primavera Sound 2023 will take place at The Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona from June 1-3 and the Ciudad del Rock in Arganda del Rey in Madrid from June 8-10. Tickets will go on sale on 12pm CET this Thursday, December 1 via DICE. Find more info here.

Weird Nightmare Covers The Troggs’ ‘Our Love Will Still Be There’

0

Weird Nightmare, the project of METZ’s Alex Edkins, has unveiled a cover of Troggs’ ‘Our Love Will Still Be There’. It follows the recently released single ‘So Far Gone’ as well as his self-titled debut LP, which came out earlier this year. Take a listen below.

“British Invasion is a really big part of my musical DNA,” Edkins commented in a statement. “The Kinks, The Troggs, The Pretty Things are my go-to comfort music. I wear their influence pretty heavily on my sleeve on at least a couple Weird Nightmare songs, ‘I Think You Know’ and ‘Lusitania’ come to mind. The Troggs, and all the American garage bands they influenced, make distorted pop that, to my ears, sounds like the precursor to punk. Loose, gritty, immediate, and heartfelt.”

The WAEVE Share Video for New Single ‘Kill Me Again’

The WAEVE, the project of Graham Coxon and Rose Elinor Dougall, have shared a new track called ‘Kill Me Again’. It’s the third single to be lifted from their upcoming debut album, following ‘Can I Call You’ and ‘Drowning’. Check out its David J. East-directed video below.

In a press release, Coxon and Dougall said that ‘Kill Me Again’ “explores the feeling of non being or the sensation of shape shifting during intense pleasure, the battle of light to exist within the universe as it becomes increasingly influenced by dark forces. It’s a celebration of sexual agency and the power generated by the physical merging of entities, the power that brings into being and how it will overcome evil….”

The WAEVE is set to arrive on February 3 via Transgressive Records.

Exquisite Engagement Rings for Women at Friendly Diamonds

The Friendly Diamond brand is deeply determined to craft eco-friendly diamonds that become an ageless and priceless piece of jewelry.

The need for you to be just as proud of your engagement ring setting 20 years from now as you were on Day One lingers heavily.

Adorning a beautiful engagement ring that is perched on your ring finger has a lengthy history that dates back to ancient times. At the time, it served as a sign for the bride getting the dowry. It has now evolved into the love emblem that we recognize today.

The engagement ring offers the promise of marriage and symbolizes devotion and dedication to the beloved spouse.

The shape of the ring itself reveals its meaning: it is circular, with no beginning or end, and has come to signify perfection, eternity, and everlasting love all over the world.

Today, more than 90% of men present rings to their loved ones when they become engaged. Men only receive engagement rings on the wedding day, though.

The extravagant engagements and several celebrity couples with lavish rings make sure that the romantic custom is not quickly forgotten.

The popular engagement ring custom will likely continue until the following generation since young people like copying the traditions of superstars.

Following trends while aiming for timeless design may seem contradictory. Yet, trends in women’s engagement rings are usually an excellent representation of a certain period in time, suggestive of a shared mood or an intriguing new development.

Gold is, however, one of the favorite picks for ring bands. Compared to platinum, gold is shinier, and it brings out the classiness in you, specifically white gold engagement rings.

Further, when the dainty diamond is perched on yellow gold engagement rings or rose gold engagement rings or includes a platinum and silver finishing, it makes them some of the few ring band materials available in the market.

Therefore at Friendly Diamonds, we find the working and finesse of classic trends to be fascinating. And hence, choosing a brand as unique and modern as Friendly Diamond can be an additional advantage.

This US based online jewelry store strongly believes in the growth of the lab diamond market as they are eco-friendly and conflict-free. Listed below are two of the most popular engagement rings at Friendly Diamonds.

Anna Hidden Accents Halo Ring

The Anna Diamond Ring’s main attraction is a gleaming solitaire held in place by four prongs, providing enough protection while allowing its brightness to shine.

A floating halo of tiny pave set diamonds is seen a step below, enclosing the solitaire and emphasizing the center.

Della Three Stone Side Pear Diamond Ring

While the solitaire rests nicely on four prongs, the Della three stone ring features two side diamonds that are pear-shaped and are each positioned in a three prong arrangement.

The cathedral-style shank gives the piece a sleek touch, gently tapering towards the top to highlight the glitter of this gorgeous three stone lab diamond ring.

Total Downer Announce Debut Album, Share New Song ‘Star Rek’t’

Cleveland emo-punks Total Downer have announced their debut LP, Caretaker, which drops on January 27 via Just Because Records. Today, the band has shared the album’s first single, ‘Star Rek’t’, alongside an accompanying video. Check it out and find the album cover and tracklist below.

“’Star Rek’t’ is a song I wrote as a response track to Weezer’s Pinkerton,” vocalist Andy Schumann commented in a statement. “I think that album is really immature. I wanted to offer an alternative way of grappling with similar feelings of loneliness, discomfort with sex, and yearning to be understood that isn’t rooted in unkindness, misogyny, and racial fetishism. I want this to be a song you can put on if you are experiencing sexual desire but also struggling to see your body as anything but a dangerous weapon.”

Metallica Announce New Album ’72 Seasons’, Share Video for New Single ‘Lux Æterna’

Metallica are back with news of their 12th studio album: 72 Seasons will be released on April 14, 2023 via the band’s own Blackened Recordings. The follow-up to 2016’s Hardwired…To Self-Destruct was produced with Greg Fidelman, and it includes the new single ‘Lux Æterna’, which is out today alongside a Tim Saccenti-directed video. Check it out below and scroll for the LP’s cover artwork and tracklist.

Discussing the concept behind the album’s title, James Hetfield said in a press release: “72 seasons. The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves. The concept that we were told ‘who we are’ by our parents. A possible pigeonholing around what kind of personality we are. I think the most interesting part of this is the continued study of those core beliefs and how it affects our perception of the world today. Much of our adult experience is reenactment or reaction to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or breaking free of those bondages we carry.”

In addition to the album announcement, Metallica have announced the M72 world tour, which kicks off in April and runs through September 2024. Find the list of dates below, too.

Skee Mask Remixes Gold Panda’s ‘Plastic Future’

0

Gold Panda has shared a Skee Mask remix of ‘Plastic Future’, a single from his latest album The Work. Listen to it below.

“The first time I heard Skee Mask was on a rainy bus journey on a gloomy weekday from my house to the city,” Derwin Dicker said in a statement. “’50 Euro To Break Boost’ fit perfectly with vehicle lights filtered through rain streaming down the windows. I’m so lucky to have a remix and to hear that he liked my music. It’s nice to find out that ‘Lucky Shiner’ was a gateway drug into electronic music for a lot of people who are now making music much better than mine haha. I feel like this remix has all the hallmarks of a classic Skee track. It’s proper!”

Stars Share New Holiday Single ‘Christmas Anyway’

0

Montreal’s Stars have released a new holiday single, ‘Christmas Anyway’. Give it a listen below.

Talking about the new song, the band said in a statement: “In a world where the algorithm (and other horrible things) has made us all feel further apart, going home for the holidays isn’t easy for everyone. What is it about these days that makes us feel we have to go home to face the loved ones we simply cannot ever be at peace with? We have no idea, but we do know that sometimes a simple song can get you through at least a few minutes of holiday hell. We hope this one does that for you. We love you all. Merry Christmas.”

Stars’ latest album, From Capelton Hill, came out in May.
