If you’re looking for a fun watch during spooky season, Crystal Lake fits the bill. The horror drama coming from A24 explores the origins of the Friday the 13th franchise. It focuses on Pamela Voorhees and her son, Jason, long before Jason becomes the infamous masked killer.
Available on Sky/NOW in the UK, the show delivers eight riveting episodes that are guaranteed to appeal to fans of the slashers. Could more installments be on the way? Here’s what we know so far.
Crystal Lake Season 2 Release Date
At the time of writing, there’s no official news about a potential Crystal Lake season 2.
The show streams on Peacock in the US, which often waits a while before renewing or cancelling series.
“I designed this so that if nobody watches and Peacock decides to not make a second season then it will at least feel like a satisfying whole. At the same time, I know where season two goes. There are more stories to tell in Crystal Lake,” showrunner Brad Caleb Kane said in an interview.
In other words, all we can do for now is wait and see. If all goes well, new episodes could arrive in late 2027.

What Is Crystal Lake About?
Crystal Lake is set in the 1970s and follows Pamela Voorhees, a single mother devastated after her young son, Jason, apparently drowns at Camp Crystal Lake. Unable to accept his death, she clings to the hope that he might still be alive.
Before long, gruesome murders begins to plague the community. Pamela’s increasingly disturbing behavior raises suspicions, and people from her past arrive with secrets that threaten to destroy what remains of her life.
Over the course of eight episodes, the story gradually reveals the horrifying truth about Jason’s childhood and the secret experiments that transformed him into something dangerous. The show successfully mixes family tragedy with bloody slasher thrills and a mesmerising performance from Linda Cardellini.
While Crystal Lake season 2 isn’t a sure bet yet, Friday the 13th enthusiasts will find plenty here to love. If the show introduces a new generation to the horror franchise, even better.
