Listen to David Bowie’s Previously Unreleased John Lennon and Bob Dylan Covers

As part of a celebration of what would have been David Bowie‘s 74th birthday, two previously unreleased covers of songs by John Lennon and Bob Dylan have been shared on streaming services. Hear Bowie’s take on John Lennon’s 1970 classic ‘Mother’ as well as Bob Dylan’s ‘Tryin’ to Get to Heaven’ below.

Bowie’s rendition of ‘Mother’ was originally recorded in 1998 by his longtime producer Tony Visconti for a John Lennon tribute album, but was never officially released. Bowie also recorded his version of the Dylan track in 1998, just months after the release of Dylan’s 1997 album Time Out Of Mind. The songs are available as a limited-edition 7″ single via Rhino Records, with 8,147 numbered copies, 1,000 of which are on cream-colored vinyl.
