Ayoni Unveils New Single ‘The Patriots’

Barbadian-born, California-based singer-songwriter Ayoni has shared a new single called ‘The Patriots’. Take a listen below.

“’The Patriots’ is my national anthem and gospel,” Ayoni explained in a statement. “This song has kept me up many nights and it has healed me and given me my power back. I felt my ancestors in the room the profound night I wrote this song, and they have guided me since.”

“The only America I’ve known is very bloody, very white, and very blue,” she continues. “To sing a song that has been written many times over generations, has been humbling and heartbreaking, but I proudly take my place amongst my musical ancestors in protest.”

‘The Patriots’ is taken from Ayoni’s upcoming debut album, which is set to come out later this year. Her debut EP Iridescent came out in 2019 and was followed by a series of singles including ‘Unmoved (A Black Woman’s Truth)’ and ‘All Out of Love’.
