Liz Phair Returns with New Song ‘Hey Lou’

Liz Phair has returned with her first new song in two years, ‘Hey Lou’. Produced by the songwriter’s Exile in Guyville collaborator Brad Wood, the track pays tribute to Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson, and its accompanying music video stars puppet versions of the two artists. Check it out below.

‘Hey Lou’ is the latest single from Phair’s upcoming album, Soberish. “Have you ever wondered what love looks like for your favorite celebrity couple behind closed doors?” she said of the new song in a statement. “Hey Lou imagines a day in the life of two music legends, whose union was an inspiration for rock bands and a source of curiosity for die hard romantics.”

‘Hey Lou’ follows Liz Phair’s October 2019 single ‘Good Side’, which coincided with the release of her memoir Horror Stories. No release date for Soberish has yet been announced. Phair’s last album of original material was 2010’s Funstyle.
