Sufjan Stevens Unveils New Track ‘Lamentation II’

Last week, Sufjan Stevens announced a five-volume album called Convocations and released the first volume, Meditations, on Friday. Today (April 12), he’s shared a preview from the second volume, Lamentations. Listen to the instrumental track ‘Lamentation II’ below.

Stevens wrote and recorded Convocations as a response and an homage to his biological father, who died in September 2020, two days after the release of The Ascension. Each volume represents a different stage of mourning and is being released one week at a time.  The whole 49-track collection also includes RevelationsCelebrations, and Incantations and comes out May 6 via Asthmatic Kitty.
