Watch Mac DeMarco Make “Italian American Gangster Rap” With Kenny Beats on ‘The Cave’

Now in its third season, Kenny Beats‘ YouTube series The Cave sees the producer and his guest create a song from scratch. The likes of slowthaiThundercat, and Danny Brown have previously guested on the show, whose latest episode features indie artist Mac DeMarco. Brainstorming as to what they should make, he says, “We’re smoking cigars. I am 25% Italian. People talk a lot about ‘gangster rap.’ A lot of Italian Americans in the movies are gangsters. How come there’s no Italian American gangster rap?” Beats interjects, “Are you about to bar up? You can’t rap, Mac!” DeMarco responded: “Absolutely not, but I can try.” Watch Mac DeMarco sing about various Italian foods below.
