Nordic noir thrillers rarely disappoint. That also seems to be the case for Blood Sacrifice, a Swedish crime drama currently generating buzz online. Besides having the kind of premise sure to draw in viewers, it tackles a messy father-son dynamic.
With 7 million views this week, Blood Sacrifice is the most-watched non-English show on Netflix. It’s also the #1 show in 16 countries. Does this mean a follow-up might be on the way? Here’s what we know so far.
Blood Sacrifice Season 2 Release Date
At the time of writing, there is no official news about a potential Blood Sacrifice season 2.
The Swedish title isn’t listed as a limited series, so it might come back for more. While the case at the heart of the series is solved by the time the end credits roll, future seasons could tackle fresh investigations.
“The series is designed as a love story [between father and son] that continues to develop and is constantly tested by the cases they find themselves facing. And if other people would also like to see more, then I’m absolutely up for it,” creator George Kay said in an interview.
In other words, it might all come down to how many people tune in. If all goes well, new episodes could arrive in 2027 or 2028.

What Is Blood Sacrifice About?
Blood Sacrifice follows detective Thomas Berg as he investigates a string of murders targeting police officers.
Two officers respond to an emergency call at an apparently empty vacation home, only to be later found dead. Thomas discovers that these new killings may be connected to an earlier one. The problem is that the person arrested for that crime is behind bars, suggesting that someone else is responsible.
As Thomas digs deeper, he reluctantly turns to his estranged father, Alfred, a former detective. The relationship between the two isn’t close, but Alfred’s unconventional investigative instincts prove valuable. Soon, the investigation reveals a disturbing pattern and a motive that points to larger systemic issues.
Without giving away spoilers, viewers find out who is responsible for the murders by the time the first season wraps up. Blood Sacrifice season 2, if it happens, will probably tackle a new case. The father-son duo, however, won’t be going anywhere.
