Mousetrap Season 2: Cast, Rumours & Release Date

A Korean thriller is doing numbers on Netflix, and it’s the kind that will make you scratch your head. The plot features a reclusive writer, a case of stolen identity, a folktale, suspicious murders, and unexpected twists. Turns out, that’s exactly what draws viewers’ attention.

Mousetrap is currently the most-watched non-English show on the streaming platform. With 4.4 million views this week, it’s also the #1 show in four countries. Could this mean that another installment is on the way? Here’s what we know so far.

Mousetrap Season 2 Release Date

At the time of writing, there’s no official news available about a potential Mousetrap season 2.

That said, the title is listed as a limited series on Netflix, and Korean productions rarely go past one season. As a result, it looks like the episodes already streaming are all we’re going to get.

What Is Mousetrap About?

Mousetrap follows Je Moon-jae, a reclusive novelist who has barely left his home in years. His isolated existence is shattered when he discovers that someone who looks exactly like him has effectively taken over his identity. The mysterious impostor is known as The Rat.

Moon-jae initially appears to be the victim of an elaborate identity-theft scheme. To get his life back, he joins forces with a ruthless loan shark. At the same time, a detective looks into the case, which becomes increasingly convoluted. The mystery progresses, and you realise that Moon-jae may not be as innocent as he appears.

By the time the finale rolls around, the show repeatedly plays with your head to the point where you’re unsure of what’s real and what isn’t. If you like curveballs and ambiguity, you’ll be glued to the screen.

While Mousetrap season 2 is unlikely, the first season is a wild ride. It sets out to prove that you can’t outrun your past, no matter how hard you try. As for who The Rat really is, that’s for you to find out.
