Body Type have released a new single, ‘Holding On’, taken from their upcoming LP Expired Candy. The track arrives with an accompanying video directed by Nick McKk and filmed on the land of the Wurundejeri Woi-wurrung people. Check it out below.
“’Holding On’ came from a particular time and space but it has evolved into a personal mantra of sorts,” guitarist Sophie McComish explained in a statement. “I’m a quadruple Virgo so I find it a challenge to relinquish control and embrace uncertainty. Sometimes the only thing that’ll get you through though is the passing of time, and it’s cool to just submit to that and trust that the outcome will be the right one.”
Bassist Georgia Wilkinson-Derums added, “This song is a product of writing at a distance. Just like that time ends up passing very discreetly until what you’re left with are quiet, hopeful memories that arm you for the future.”
Expired Candy, the follow-up to last year’s Everything Is Dangerous But Nothing’s Surprising, is out June 2 via Poison City Records. It was led by the single ‘Miss the World’.

Desire, I Want to Turn Into You was released on February 14. In addition to ‘Welcome to My Island’, it includes the early singles ‘Bunny Is a Rider’, ‘Billions’, ‘Sunset’, and ‘Blood and Butter’. Polachek is heading out on a North American tour in April.
London-based artist Lucinda Chua has teamed up with Yeule for a new track called ‘Something Other Than Years’. It’s the final preview of Chua’s debut album YIAN, which is out this Friday (March 24) via 4AD and includes the previously unveiled singles ‘Golden’, ‘Echo’, and ‘An Ocean’. Take a listen below.

Daft Punk have unveiled a previously unreleased track that will appear on the forthcoming 10th anniversary edition of Random Access Memories. ‘The Writing of Fragments of Time’ is a “documentary track” that delves into the making of the group’s Todd Edwards collaboration ‘Fragments of Time’, and it comes with a video directed by Cédric Hervet. According to a press release, ‘The Writing of Fragments of Time’ calls back to the album track ‘Giorgio by Moroder’, in which the iconic producer talks about his creative journey and process. The 10th anniversary edition of Random Access Memories, which features 35 minutes of previously unreleased music across nine additional tracks, arrives May 12 via Columbia.
The National have released ‘Eucalyptus’, the latest preview of their upcoming album, First Two Pages of Frankenstein. The track is accompanied by a Chris Sgroi-directed video that was shot at Long Pond by Sgroi and Matt Berninger’s brother, Tom. Watch and listen below.
“Throughout the record there’s a lot of looking into the abyss and wondering if a relationship has run its course,” Matt Berninger explained in a statement. “‘Eucalyptus’ is about a couple splitting up their possessions after a breakup — like, ‘What are we going to do with the spring water we get delivered, what’s going to happen to all these plants?’ It’s about all those little things you end up having to think about when you’ve become so connected to someone.”
Newport Jazz Festival has announced the lineup for its 2023 edition. The 69th anniversary edition of the festival will take place at Fort Adams State Park in Rhode Island from August 4 to 6, with Herbie Hancock, Jon Batiste, and Thundercat topping the bill. Kamasi Washington, Diana Krall, Big Freedia, Domi & JD Beck, Charles Lloyd, Arooj Aftab (with Vijay Iyer and Shahzad Ismaily), Samara Joy, Cautious Clay, Anderson .Paak’s alter ego DJ Pee, Big Gigantic, Alfa Mist, and more are also set to perform. It features punk outtakes from the album sessions behind Free LSD, which was released last fall, along with unedited takes of the LP’s free jazz interludes. It’s out April 22 via Fat Possum. New single ‘Keep Your Mouth Shut’ arrives today alongside a music video featuring footage from a narrative feature film written and directed by the band’s Dimitri Coats. Check it out below.
“We recorded ‘Keep Your Mouth Shut’ for Free LSD but ended up saving it for the movie,” Coats explained in a statement. “We needed a powerful non-album track in the film to establish the band before their attempt to save human consciousness from the clutches of an evil alien species.”

Rina Sawayama will make her feature film debut in John Wick: Chapter 4, starring as Akira Shimazu alongside Keanu Reeves. Today, she’s sharing her contribution to the film’s soundtrack, ‘Eye for an Eye’, which she wrote with composer Tyler Bates. Listen to it below.

The London collective Speakers Corner Quartet have teamed up with Tirzah for a new track, ‘fix’. It follows the previously released ‘Can We Do This’, a collaboration with Sampha. Check it out below.
“It’s a song that has many meanings, many outcomes, many possibilities – as well as the obvious – fixing someone, or something,” Tirzah said of the single in a statement. Speakers Corner Quartet drummer Giles Kwakeulati King-Ashong added: “Musically – we went on quite a journey of finding the right balance of atmosphere & space. It pays homage to a lot of the band’s ideals with Tirzah’s unique approach to lyricism. ‘when you’re shook, don’t look shocked’. Never a truer phrase spoken.”
Swans have announced their sixteenth studio album: The Beggar is set to arrive on June 23 via Mute/Young God Records. Today’s announcement comes with the release of the new single ‘Paradise is Mine’. Check it out below, along with the LP’s cover artwork, tracklist, and Swans’ upcoming tour dates.
The follow-up to 2019’s leaving meaning. was recorded and mixed at Candy Bomber Studio in Berlin. It was written and produced by bandleader Michael Gira, engineered by Ingo Krauss, and mastered by Doug Henderson. The record features contributions from recent and former Swans members, members of Angels of Light, as well as “guest Swan” Ben Frost. Jennifer Gira, Lucy Kruger, and Laura Carbone provided backing vocals.
“After numerous pandemic-induced cancellations of tours for the previous Swans album leaving meaning, and an apparent bottomless pit of waiting, waiting, waiting, and the strange disorientation that came with this sudden but interminable forced isolation I decided it was time to write songs for a new Swans album and forget about everything else,” Gira said in a press release. “They came relatively easily, always informed by the suspicion that these could be my last. When I finally was able to travel, songs in hand, to Berlin to work with my friends recording this record, the feeling was akin to the moment in The Wizard of Oz when the film changes from Black and White to Color. Now I’m feeling quite optimistic. My favourite color is pink. I hope you enjoy the album.”
