Truth Club Announce New Album, Enlist Indigo De Souza for New Song ‘Exit Cycle’

North Carolina band Truth Club have announced their sophomore LP, Running From the Chase, which lands October 6 via Double Double Whammy. The follow-up to 2019’s Not an Exit includes the previously shared song ‘Blue Eternal’, as well as a new single, ‘Exit Cycle’, which features Indigo De Souza. It comes with a music video directed by Alex Montenegro of Skirts. Check it out and find the album cover and tracklist below.

“Like most of the other songs on Running From the Chase, ‘Exit Cycle’ had been kicking around in some form for a few years,” singer/guitarist Travis Harrington explained in a statement. “When we went to record the album, we had only just begun to conceptualize the vocal round and harmonies at the end. Yvonne and I compiled what we had written, and it didn’t feel complete. It needed another voice. Indigo has been a long time friend of mine, and I had always dreamed of getting to collaborate with her. Her voice has so much grace and power. I texted her and she happened to have just gotten back into town from a leg of shows and seemed happy to stop by the studio. I think she listened to the song maybe once, and then immediately got in front of the mic. It was a joy to watch her process. Suddenly, she landed on the arrangement you hear on the record, and Alex and I just froze, we looked at each other with the widest eyes like ‘This is it’ I think my jaw actually dropped.

“This song will always be remarkable to me because, for the longest time, I didn’t think it would ever find a home with Truth Club,” Harrington added. “It has the most ambitious vocal arrangement we’ve ever attempted, and through this arrangement, I was finally able to collaborate with one of my oldest friends and constant sources of inspiration. The emotional path of the song parallels the journey of writing it: It begins in the most private and insular place, and finally grows into a joyfully collective outpour.”

Wild Nothing Announce New Album ‘Hold’, Enlist Hatchie for New Single ‘Headlights On’

Wild Nothing have announced their first new album in five years. Hold, the follow-up to 2018’s Indigo, is due to arrive on October 27 via Captured Tracks. It also marks Jack Tatum’s first self-produced LP since his 2010 debut Gemini. Today’s announcement comes with the release of the new single ‘Headlights On’, which was mixed by Jorge Elbrecht and features drum production by Beach Fossils’ Tommy Davidson and vocals from Hatchie’s Harriette Pilbeam. Nathan Castiel directed its accompanying video, which you can check out below.

“This track was incredibly cathartic for me,” Tatum said of ‘Headlights On’ in a statement. “It’s a song about your relationship reaching its most brittle moment and still trying to find even the smallest open window that can lead you back to that person. Musically I was drawn towards something that felt very body centric and could help get me out of my own repetitive thought patterns. It’s a propulsive and hopeful track that’s meant to act as a release valve, but the somberness that inspired the song remains intact.”

Mixed by Geoff Swan, Hold also features contributions from Molly Burch, Becca Mancari, and Tatum’s wife, Dana. “I’ve sat with this record for a very long time now, so naturally I’m both excited and apprehensive to let it see the light,” he added. “It’s my first record as a father. My first self-produced record since my debut. It’s a record that deals in existential themes but doesn’t always take itself too seriously. It’s not afraid of pop but it’s hopefully not afraid to be strange either. It has fun, gets sad, dwells in the quiet moments and embraces the loud ones. It’s me doing what I love and feeling grateful for it.”

Melvin Smith & Rose Smith to Exhibit at Fort Gansevoort

Fort Gansevoort will be welcoming an exhibition titled Recollections of Rondo by Minnesota-based duo Melvin Smith and Rose Smith. A curated selection of portraits painted by Rose and collages of urban scenes, along with architectural models created by Melvin, will be featured in this presentation. Formed in the 1990s, Rondo documents the artists’ memories of civic life in the vibrant African American Rondo neighbourhood of St. Paul as it existed before the building of the Interstate 94 highway in the 1960s. The Smith’s ongoing grand opus memorializes a distinctive community disrupted by the impact of eminent domain. Instead of relying solely on photographs or other archival sources, the Smiths use their memories of place and personage to examine and preserve a beloved they call Rondo.

The exhibition will run from November, 2023 until January, 2024.

Gemini Dollar vs. Other Stablecoins: A Comparative Analysis of Security and Transparency

In the world of cryptocurrencies, stablecoins have gained significant popularity due to their ability to maintain a stable value while leveraging the benefits of blockchain technology. One such stablecoin that has emerged as a prominent player is the Gemini Dollar (GUSD). In this article, we will delve into a comparative analysis of the security and transparency aspects of the Gemini Dollar in contrast to other stablecoins in the market. To enhance your understanding of the technology behind stablecoins and blockchain, explore geekpedia.com for in-depth coding tutorials and tech insights that delve into the complexities of cryptocurrency technologies.

The Rise of Stablecoins

Stablecoins serve as a bridge between the volatile cryptocurrency market and traditional fiat currencies. They aim to provide stability by pegging their value to a specific asset or a basket of assets, such as fiat currencies, commodities, or other cryptocurrencies. This stability makes stablecoins an attractive option for individuals and businesses looking to transact in the digital realm without being exposed to the volatility of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Ethereum.

Understanding the Gemini Dollar (GUSD)

The Gemini Dollar (GUSD) is a regulated stablecoin introduced by Gemini Trust Company, a prominent cryptocurrency exchange founded by the Winklevoss twins. GUSD operates on the Ethereum blockchain and is designed to maintain a 1:1 peg with the U.S. dollar. This means that for every GUSD in circulation, there is an equivalent amount of U.S. dollars held in reserve.

Security Features of the Gemini Dollar

Security is a crucial aspect of any stablecoin, as it ensures the protection of user funds and maintains trust in the ecosystem. The Gemini Dollar incorporates several robust security features to safeguard its users’ assets. These features include:

Trustworthy Custody Solutions

Gemini Trust Company, the issuer of GUSD, is a New York State-chartered limited liability trust company and is subject to stringent regulatory oversight. This regulatory framework ensures compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) regulations, thereby reducing the risk of illicit activities.

Independent Audits

To enhance transparency and accountability, Gemini engages reputable third-party firms to conduct regular audits of their reserve holdings. These audits verify that the number of GUSD tokens in circulation matches the U.S. dollars held in reserve, providing reassurance to users about the stability and integrity of the stablecoin.

Cold Storage

Gemini stores the majority of its users’ funds in offline, air-gapped cold storage systems. This practice minimizes the risk of unauthorized access or hacking attempts, as the private keys required to access the funds are stored securely offline.

Multi-Signature Approval

Withdrawals and transfers of GUSD require multi-signature approval from Gemini’s secure key management system. This system adds an extra layer of security by ensuring that no single individual has complete control over users’ funds.

Comparative Analysis with Other Stablecoins

While the Gemini Dollar boasts robust security measures, it’s essential to compare its security and transparency with other stablecoins to provide a comprehensive analysis. Let’s examine some other popular stablecoins in the market:

Tether (USDT)

Tether is one of the most widely recognized stablecoins and operates on multiple blockchain platforms, including Ethereum and Tron. However, concerns have been raised regarding the transparency of Tether’s reserves, as the company faced legal scrutiny for alleged lack of backing. This has led some to question the security and stability of USDT.

USD Coin (USDC)

USD Coin is another popular stablecoin created by Circle and Coinbase. It follows a similar 1:1 peg to the U.S. dollar and undergoes monthly audits to ensure transparency. However, compared to Gemini Dollar, USDC is not subject to the same level of regulatory oversight, which may impact user trust.

Dai (DAI)

Dai, an algorithmic stablecoin, operates on the Ethereum blockchain and maintains its stability through an autonomous system of smart contracts. While Dai offers decentralization and transparency, its value can fluctuate due to market dynamics, as it is not directly pegged to a fiat currency like the Gemini Dollar.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Gemini Dollar (GUSD) stands out as a stablecoin that combines strong security measures with regulatory compliance. Its trustworthiness is reinforced by independent audits, trustworthy custody solutions, and multi-signature approval processes. While other stablecoins like Tether, USD Coin, and Dai have their merits, the Gemini Dollar’s commitment to security and transparency sets it apart from the competition. As the cryptocurrency market continues to evolve, the demand for stablecoins will likely increase. Investors and users seeking stability and security in the digital asset realm can consider the Gemini Dollar as a reliable option. With its stringent security measures and transparent framework, the Gemini Dollar has the potential to become a leading stablecoin in the ever-expanding crypto landscape.

Clementine Valentine Unveil New Single ‘Selenelion’

0

Clementine Valentine, the Aotearoa/New Zealand duo formerly known as Purple Pilgrims, have released their new single ‘Selenelion’. It’s lifted from their upcoming album The Coin That Broke the Fountain Floor, which is out August 25 and includes previous cuts ‘Time and Tide’ and ‘The Rope’. Check out the Britt Walton-directed video for it below.

“‘Selenelion’ is a type of lunar eclipse where both the sun and moon appear in the sky at the same time,” the duo explained in a statement. “As a story the song is based on aspects of countless old folk songs and fables. A star-crossed dynamic. The meeting of a myological creature and a mortal, always ending in tragedy. The video by Britt Walton follows the same doomed scenario, set in a place dear to us – Hong Kong, where we grew up.”

Cherry Glazerr Releases New Song ‘Ready for You’

0

Cherry Glazerr has released a new song, ‘Ready for You’, taken from her recently announced LP I Don’t Want You Anymore. It follows lead single ‘Soft Like A Flower’, and you can check it out below.

“At the start of the pandemic, I was writing a lot in the box, what I call ‘computer music’ since I’m technologically challenged,” Clementine Creevy explained in a statement. “It was fun to experiment, but after a while, I just really missed rock. I love rock music – I love how it’s cathartic and brash and sometimes a little dumb.”

“‘Ready For You’ is about being so ashamed of yourself that you can’t look people in the eye, and it’s also about pushing people away because of being scared of hurting them with your own bullshit,” she added. “Sometimes I feel scared about infecting people with my own troubles, and I just want to hide because then I can save them from myself. This song helps me move through it and confront those feelings of inadequacy, I hope it does that for other people too.”

I Don’t Want You Anymore comes out September 29 via Secretly Canadian.

Mali Velasquez Shares Video for New Song ‘Bobby’

0

Mali Velasquez has unveiled a new single, ‘Bobby’. Following last month’s ‘Tore’, which made our Best New Songs playlist, the track comes paired with a video directed by Reed Schick. Check it out below.

‘Bobby’ is set to appear on Velasquez’s debut album, I’m Green, which arrives October 13 via Acrophase Records. “I wrote ‘Bobby’ originally about losing my mom when I was in highschool, I had a lot of these visuals of her being sick,” she explained. “The only connections I can find from sickness and death are in animals and nature, which felt like my way out of grieving in a tunnel vision. The chorus of the song is largely about my coping with her loss, mostly being unable to move or stop staring at the wall. Grief and moving from unhealthy coping mechanisms to safer ones is a thick and embarrassing struggle that seeps into a lot of these songs.”

Velasquez added, “I love to paint, and I love to paint outside, especially coming from such an arid place. Moving here to Nashville, I remember saying out loud, all the time—it’s so green! The cover art for ‘Bobby’ is a photo of my grandparents holding me as a baby that I painted, and that’s something that I absolutely want to keep doing, is just painting old photos.”
