Earlier in 2026, medical sitcom Scrubs returned with a revival that beat the odds. Not only were veteran fans still interested, but critics showered the comeback with positive reviews.
The series already premiered its second season, available on Disney+ in the UK. It continues to deliver heartwarming stories that resonate with its audience. Could this mean that more installments are on the way? Here’s what we know so far.
Scrubs (2026) Season 3 Release Date
At the time of writing, there’s no official news available about a potential Scrubs season 3.
That said, fans shouldn’t lose hope. Creator Bill Lawrence seemed to hint that a third season is a definite possibility in an interview for The Hollywood Reporter.
Hopefully, a renewal is just around the corner. If all goes well, new episodes could arrive in fall 2027.

What Is Scrubs (2026) About?
The Scrubs revival returns to Sacred Heart Hospital, where former interns are now experienced physicians. J.D. takes on the role of chief of medicine, which means he once again gets to work with best friend Turk and ex-wife Elliot.
Although their careers have advanced, their insecurities and anxieties remain intact. J.D. and Elliot must learn how to collaborate following their divorce, while Turk balances the demands of running the surgical department with his family life. At the same time, a new group of interns faces the many challenges associated with entering the healthcare system.
Towards the end of the first season, Dr. Cox received a difficult diagnosis, which makes him a bigger presence in season 2. J.D. is navigating a romance, and Eliott’s ex-boyfriend Sean is back in the mix. The show also introduces new medical cases and catches up with the interns, each with their own set of problems.
While Scrubs season 3 isn’t a sure bet just yet, we’re cautiously optimistic, especially since keeping up with these doctors hasn’t lost its charm. For now, season 2 episodes arrive weekly on Hulu/Disney+.
