TV Priest have shared a new single called ‘Press Gang’. The latest preview from the London post-punk outfit’s upcoming debut album, Uppers, ‘Press Gang’ was inspired by vocalist Charlie Drinkwater’s grandfather, who worked as a photojournalist and war correspondent on Fleet Street from the 1950s to 1980s. ‘Press Gang’ is about “how the prevailing narrative that the ‘Death of Print Media’ has contributed to a “post truth” world,” according to a press release. TV Priest added on Instagram: “It’s about Charlie’s grandad, news cycles, truth, chip paper, and information. It’s also pretty loud.”
Originally scheduled for release last November, Uppers is now due out February 5 via Sub Pop. It includes the previously released singles ‘This Island’ and ‘Slideshow’.
