TV Priest Unveil Video for New Song ‘Press Gang’

TV Priest have shared a new single called ‘Press Gang’. The latest preview from the London post-punk outfit’s upcoming debut album, Uppers, ‘Press Gang’ was inspired by vocalist Charlie Drinkwater’s grandfather, who worked as a photojournalist and war correspondent on Fleet Street from the 1950s to 1980s. Check it out below, alongside an accompanying music video directed by Joe Wheatley.

‘Press Gang’ is about “how the prevailing narrative that the ‘Death of Print Media’ has contributed to a “post truth” world,” according to a press release. TV Priest added on Instagram: “It’s about Charlie’s grandad, news cycles, truth, chip paper, and information. It’s also pretty loud.”

Originally scheduled for release last November, Uppers is now due out February 5 via Sub Pop. It includes the previously released singles ‘This Island’ and ‘Slideshow’.
