Autechre have remixed SOPHIE’s 2013 track ‘BIPP’. Out digitally today, the duo’s remix will be released alongside a previously unreleased B-side from SOPHIE called ‘UNISIL’; Glasgow label Numbers will issue the single on vinyl on January 28. Listen to Autechre’s remix of ‘BIPP’ below via Bandcamp.
The new remix from Autechre has been a long time in the making. Back in 2015, SOPHIE told Numbers she wanted “NO remixes” of her music “unless it’s Autechre,” according to a press release. “We persisted, and in 2018 (three years later) sent every SOPHIE stem and sysex file possible from PRODUCT (2015) hoping they might do something unexpected across all the tracks,” the label says. It wasn’t until last year that they received an email from the duo saying, “Sorry this is so late, hope it’s still of some use.”
SOPHIE’s last album was 2018’s OIL OF EVERY PEARL’s UN-INSIDES. Last year, Autechre released two albums, SIGN and PLUS.
