Bruno Mars and Anderson. Paak delivered their debut live performance as Silk Sonic last night at the 2021 Grammy Awards. The pair performed the project’s lead single ‘Leave the Door Open’, donning sunglasses and wearing matching suits. Later in the night, they paid tribute to the late Little Richard with a rendition of ‘Good Golly Miss Molly’. Watch both performances below.
After releasing ‘Leave the Door Open’, Mars began a social media campaign asking the Grammys for a spot on the show. “If you can see it in your hearts to allow two out of work musicians to perform at your show, we would really appreciate it,” he wrote. “We just released a song and could really use the promotion right now.”
Anderson. Paak was nominated for three awards last night, and took home Best Melodic Rap performance for ‘Lockdown’. Last year, he won Best R&B Album for Ventura. Bruno Mars swept each of the major categories at the 2018 ceremony, winning Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year. Check out the full list of this year’s winners here.
Silk Sonic’s full-length album, An Evening with Silk Sonic, is expected to arrive later this year, marking Mars’ first album since 2016’s 24K Magic.
