Watch the Trailer for New King Crimson Documentary ‘In the Court of the Crimson King’

King Crimson have unveiled a new trailer for the upcoming documentary In the Court of the Crimson King. The film, directed by Toby Amies and commissioned by King Crimson, will have its world premiere at the 2022 SXSW Film Festival in March. The new clip features a conversation with bandleader Robert Fripp, live concert footage, and more. Check it out below.

“What began as a traditional documentary about the legendary band King Crimson as it turned 50, mutated into an exploration of time, death, family, and the transcendent power of music to change lives; but with jokes,” the film’s official description reads. “In the Court of the Crimson King is a dark, comic film for anyone who wonders whether it is worth sacrificing everything for just a single moment of transcendence. It explores the unique creative environment of King Crimson, one in which freedom and responsibility conspire to place extraordinary demands on the band’s members – only alleviated by the applause of an audience whose adoration threatens to make their lives even harder. It’s a rewarding and perilous space in which the extraordinary is possible, nothing is certain, and not everyone survives intact.”

In 2019, King Crimson celebrated the band’s 50th anniversary by going on an extensive tour and releasing a new box set for their 1969 debut LP, In the Court of the Crimson King.

illuminati hotties have released a new one-off single called ‘sandwich sharer’. Check it out below.

“‘Sandwich Sharer’ was very much written at the precipice of unknowns – I was seeking a teammate at a time where I felt swayed by nostalgia for youth as opposed to the reality of the momentum of life,” Sarah Tudzin explained in a statement. “And it feels so good to be close to someone who knows you so well it’s like you finish each others’… sandwiches.”

illuminati hotties’ latest album, Let Me Do One More, dropped last year. Next week, the band will embark on a North American tour that will feature shows with Fenne Lilly, Pom Pom Squad, and Katy Kirby.

String Machine have released ‘Soft Tyranny’, the latest offering from their upcoming album Hallelujah Hell Yeah. Check out a lyric video for the track below.

“This song was probably the most challenging to write,” vocalist David Beck explained in a statement about the new single. “This was me confronting the ways I had expressed certain emotions, and feeling guilty about it.” He added: “The synth lead after the choruses was very much a callback to one of my favorite bands, Motion City Soundtrack. There were many moments on this album that we all decided to let our guards down and unashamedly let certain influences in.”

‘Soft Tyranny’ follows previous singles ‘Gales of Worry’ and ‘Touring in January’. Hallelujah Hell Yeah arrives February 25 via Know Hope Records.

Korean-Canadian songwriter and producer Luna Li has announced her debut album with the single ‘Silver Into Rain‘, featuring beabadoobee. Duality comes out March 4 via In Real Life. Check out ‘Silver Into Rain’ below.

“‘Silver Into Rain’ is about longing to become a better self. In the song I’m lamenting all of the things about myself that I feel are holding me back in life, and how sometimes it can feel like everything you touch turns bad, turns to rain,” Li explained in a statement. “Bea came in with the most angelic voice and perfect sentiment for the song, and brought it to a really brilliant place.”

“The songs never quite have only one feeling,” she added of the album, which also features contributions from Jay Som and Dreamer Isioma. “Each song had some element of light and dark — where there’s happiness there’s still uncertainty; where there’s anxiety there’s also beauty; and where there’s tension there’s freedom.”

Many Voices Speak Announces New Album, Releases New Song ‘Seat for Sadness’

Many Voices Speak, the project of Swedish musician Matilda Mård, has announced a new album called Gestures. The follow-up to her 2018 debut Tank Town arrives April 29 via Strangers Candy. Today’s announcement comes with the release of a new single, ‘Seat for Sadness’. Check it out and find the album’s cover artwork and tracklist below.

“The verse of this song kind of came to me all at once. Then it took quite a long time until I got the rest of the song out of me,” Mård said of ‘Seat for Sadness’ in a statement. “I lived in Berlin at the time and rented a piano room at a music school, and most of the hours spent in there I was searching for the rest of the song. It wasn’t until me and Petter Nygårdh had started recording the album back home in Sweden, that I came up with the melody that would become the chorus. The new chorus pushed us in a new direction by making the whole song require something more. We had only brought a small part of the home studio to a country house to escape the noise from the neighbour’s renovation, but we found an acoustic guitar in that house that ended up being an important part of Seat For Sadness, and later on an important part of the album as a whole.”

Talking about the album, Mård added: “What unites the songs is a need for inner change, to handle the things in life that can’t be changed. I’m creating strategies for myself – new ways of thinking, so I can live with certain things. The title comes from that. I’ve figured out that gestures are important because they’re proof of love, and that’s the only power we have against death and separation.”
