Anatole ‘Outgrown’ feat. Tom Iansek

The first song to enter our Sound Selection is ‘Outgrown’ by the terrific Anatole featuring Tom Iansek. ‘Outgrown’ is driven by solid vocals, ear-satisfying sounds and just superb production. This one is a must for any playlist.

BNNY RBBT ‘If I Were Human’

Furthermore, we have ‘If I Were Human’ by the uniquely distinctive and refreshing BNNY RBBT, who combine experimental like soundscapes with modified vocals that will genuinely bring out the emotion in you. Fantastic work.

Linn Kock-Emmery ‘Bby Nevermind’

Another splendid song to enter our selection is ‘Bby Nevermind’ by the wonderful Linn Koch-Emmery, who showcases her raw-driven vocals in this terrific energy fueled song. One to add to your playlists, for sure.

FYOHNA ‘Called It Love’

Alternatively, we have ‘Called It Love’ by the vocally gifted FYOHNA, who combines commercially driven pop vocals and a groovy production to give us a song you will have on repeat for weeks to come.

Now for something more darker and mysterious we present ‘but why?’ by the exciting neek, who combines ambiently mysterious sounds and dramatically flourishing vocals that will grab you into the journey it carries.

Tourist ‘Sleepwalking’ feat. Swim Mountain & Esther Joy

Another great song for the playlists is ‘Sleepwalking’ by Tourist featuring Swim Mountain & Esther Joy. This uplifting, hopeful and simply magical song will you wake up to the beauty of music made by the terrific Tourist. Wonderful work.

Amanda Mair ‘Empty Blockings’

Our final song to enter this selection is an exciting romantic Indie-Pop song ‘Empty Blockings’ by the very promising Amanda Mair, who dives in with pure passion and honesty in her latest single. Great work, one for the playlists for sure.

Donald Glover and Beyonce have been cast in The Lion King remake

Beyonce has officially announced that she will be joining the cast for the upcoming remake of The Lion King.

Donald Glover also known by his stage name Childish Gambino will be voicing the character of Simba, whilst Beyonce will be voicing the character of Nala.

Some of the other cast members are James Earl Jones who will voice Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor who will voice Scar.

Current Cast: Donald Glover (Simba), Beyonce (Nala), James Earl Jones (Mufasa), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar), Alfre Woodard (Sarabi), John Oliver (Zazu), John Kani (Rafiki), Seth Rogen (Pumbaa), Billy Eichner (Timon), Eric Andre (Azizi), Florence Kasumba (Shenzi), Keegan-Michael Key (Kamara), JD McCrary (Young Simba) and Shahadi Wright Joseph (Young Nala)

The film has been scheduled to be released in the July of 2019 and will be directed by Jon Favreau who has also directed such films as ‘Jungle Book’, ‘Chef’ and ‘Iron Man’.

EA releases a teaser trailer for UFC 3

After a long wait, EA has finally released a teaser trailer for UFC 3.

With the success of the previous UFC games and major growth in popularity, UFC is once again joining hands with EA to make their third game together ‘UFC 3’. After the Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor bout, there is no doubt the fans of UFC and newcomers have been waiting for a new game to be released, it looks like it is coming at the right time for them as the next McGregor fight is still in the distance.

At this moment of time, there is no information on what new modes and additions to the game. But it is guaranteed as usual that the game will have an updated

Roster and will likely include legendary fighters like it did in previous games such as Mike Tyson and Bruce Lee alongside legendary UFC fighters such as Bas Rutten and Kazushi Sakuraba.

The teaser trailer is only twelve seconds in length and primarily reveals that the first look into the game will be shown on the 3rd of November, 2017.

‘Jigsaw’ tops the weekend Box Office as ‘Geostorm’ falls to third

Lionsgate’s newcomer horror film Jigsaw has topped the weekend Box Office.

With an estimated production of $10 million ‘Jigsaw’ made an impressive start as it managed to gross $16.2 million on its opening weekend.

In second came place came ‘Tyler Perry’s Boo 2! A Madea Halloween’ which managed to gross $10 million, whilst in third came ‘Geostorm’ with $5.6 million as it dropped a place from last week.

One of the biggest drops at the weekend Box Office has been for ‘The Snowman’ which dropped from 8th place to 17th this week as it only managed to gross $1.18 million. It has currently got 8% on Rotten Tomatoes, as it was received badly by the critics.

Like Magic ‘Underside’

To start of our Sound Selection we have a deep and mysterious track named ‘Underside’ by the terrific Like Magic who combines a wave of elements to bring us quite the trip. With this song Like Magic truly hits the map in the world of music.

Roman Kouder ‘LOST’ feat. Josh Tobias

Another terrific to enter our selection is ‘LOST’ by Roman Kouder, who showcases his vocal talent and combines it with Disclosure-like production to give us a great commercial house song. Truly great work by a promising artist.

Milan ‘Rewind’

Furthermore, we have ‘Rewind’ by the young and talented Milan. With this single Milan showcases her skill to perform and write songs, a truly promising young talent everyone should follow. Big things to come.

Still Changing ‘The Cost of a Life’

Coming to us with pure energy and power we have Still Changing who bring us ‘The Cost of a Life’ a terrific commercial song with great catchy lyrics. A song to be played on repeat for sure.

Joshua Moriarty ‘R.T.F.L.’

Rewinding back to a more chill out vibe, we have Joshua Moriarty who brings us his latest single ‘R.T.F.L.’. In this deep Electro Pop song, Moriarty brings out his vocal talent, composure and maturity to produce a song. Great work by an exciting artist.

Plateau Green ‘Yai Eyes’

Another artist to experiment with vocals and deep sounds is Plateau Green who moulds various vocal hooks with deep short attack kicks and smooth sub bass to give us a simply magnificent song named ‘Yai Eyes’. A song for those that love something a little different.

Jon Vinyl ‘Nostalgia’

With terrific production and silky smooth vocals, we have Jon Vinyl, who combines his splendid vocal talent with golden lyrics to give us his song ‘Nostalgia’. Vinyl showcases his great comfort in singing and knowing his own groove. This one is a must for every playlist.

Little Glass Man ‘Eternal Nectar’

We love House music on Sound Selection and this time bringing us a great track for the selection is Little Glass Man with ‘Eternal Nectar’. Lasting around five minutes, this song will take you on a quite a journey. A truly great house track that combines smooth pluck leads, ambient vocals and steady patterns.

CAVVIAR ‘Cassette’

Our final song in this Sound Selection is ‘Cassette’ by the super-fun CAVVIAR’. Other than having a great music video, this song is a pure jam. CAVVIAR combines humorous vocals with a terrific 80’s throwback beat to give us a perfect joy for the weeks ahead.

Review: Battle of the Sexes (2017)

Battle of the Sexes brings back one of the most important events in the world of tennis in a refreshing and well-balanced manner – just as we hoped.

The film follows the story of the Billie Jean King (Emma Stone) who lives her life driven to become the greatest women tennis player of all time. On the other hand, we have a 55-year old retired tennis legend Bobby Riggs (Steve Carell) who lives with his rich wife and works a boring office job which he clearly dislikes. Full of 70’s misogyny, feminism and Tennis this film is a rather refreshing take on this iconic tennis match between two totally different goal orientated characters.

The film starts out by King finding out that women Tennis players will be paid eight times less prize money than men by the United States Lawn Tennis Association. By finding out these insulting news King rebelliously goes on a journey to create her own tournament and because of this, it catches the attention of none other than Bobby Riggs, who tries to convince her to play him for money in the ultimate Tennis match. Whilst King rejects his offer to play, Kings’ number one enemy Margaret Court (Jessica McNamee) does not. Court a driven, focused and better than everyone type character manages to beat King in her own tournament to the become number one tennis player in the world. With this result, the match of the century is on – the first battle of the sexes. Riggs versus Court. However, it all quickly comes crashing down for Court as she is schooled on the Tennis court by the leader of the male chauvinists Bobby Riggs. With this humiliating loss for women’s Tennis King becomes determined to play Riggs, to prove to the world that women are just as good as men. And from this point, the film sets to play.

Behind all the Tennis this film’s key selling point is the close-ups on the personal lives of Bobby Riggs and Billie Jean King. The most intriguing story being Billie Jean’s tragic affair with Marilyn Barnett. The film explores this 70’s taboo story well and even if at times it lacks emphasis it still shows the effect it had on King as a tennis player as because of this affair she struggled to focus on her tournament final match against Court, who she lost to. Whilst, the topic of two females loving each other was key to the film because it brought another dimension to the film, it lacked emphasis at times which really let down the great performance by Emma Stone. This was mostly due to the film having too much to cover in a short amount of time.

However, on a bigger scale the film did a decent job of showing the true world of the 70’s as it opened the audience’s eyes to the massive achievements of Billie King Jean who is a true hero in sports and feminism, whilst also exploring the politics behind Tennis and the extreme wave of male chauvinism that occurred during this historical match between Riggs and King.

Technically this film did outstandingly. The cinematography work of Linus Sandgren was splendid. Sandgren shot the film in 35mm and really managed to capture the look of the 70’s with great framing that even made it feel documentary-like at times. In terms of editing, Palema Martin did a great job in moving the film’s storyline forward, not wasting shots and keeping the audiences engaged with well-paced sequences. Showing the audiences what they need to see.

Overall, the film is an enjoyable watch. It has some great feminist messages and inspirational themes that really make it for a refreshing watch. The outstanding performance in this film is by Emma Stone, who did a terrific job to capture the life of Billie Jean King. Whilst, Steve Carell had some sparkling moments too with his 70’s male type humour. Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris can be proud of this one.

Liam Gallagher sells out a Headline show in a matter of minutes

Liam Gallagher’s upcoming 2018 show at Finsbury Park sold out within few minutes of going on sale.

Social media hype machine Liam Gallagher did not surprise many as he had his upcoming headline show sell out in a matter of minutes. The show was announced on Monday and the tickets went on sale just this morning.

The two-stage event that is promoted by the Festival Republic will happen on the 29th of June, 2018.

The support acts for the event have yet to be announced.

Liam Gallagher’s debut solo album ‘As You Were’ achieved big sales this month as it became the third fastest selling LP of the year in the UK.

This Autumn Winter key items are a must haves. It’s all about keeping warm whilst meaning business. Here are just some of the key items that stood out.

Wool Suit

Wool is the perfect fabric for the colder months, it’s a good insulator. You’ll find that most suits are made of wool if not a blend but these are perfect for the cold not only could you just wear a suit by itself but you could wear a topcoat and still look sophisticated.

What is the difference between a leisure suit as opposed to a normal suit you say. Well the difference is that one is used for comfort you could say. Leisure suits have a more relaxed look as it has little amounts of tailoring. It has an urban sport look which is a twist to a classic suit.

Netflix releases the official trailer for ‘Godless’

A new limited series Godless just received its first trailer from Netflix.

The series will follow the paths of Frank Griffin played by Jeff Daniels and his cruel gang, who cross the paths with a town filled with women who must protect themselves when they are caught in a crossfire between Frank Griffin’s murderous gang and their arch enemy Roy Goode played by Jack O’Connell.

Some of the cast that will drive the story of ‘Godless’ are Jack O’Connell, Michelle Dockery and four-time Golden Globe nominee Jeff Daniels.

‘Godless’ will be coming to Netflix on the 22nd of November.
