Victor Mucho Shares Video for New Single ‘The List’

Victor Mucho, the solo project of Judah & the Lion’s Brian Macdonald, has shared a new single called ‘The List’. Following ‘so terribly hurt’, featuring Nashville singer-songwriter Molly Parden, ‘The List’ comes with an accompanying video filmed in the remote island of Gotland, Sweden, where Macdonald wrote and recorded his upcoming album Moonlight in Visby. Watch and listen below.

“When I lived in Sweden, I took my pup to a dog-meet-up near the ocean every morning at 830,” Macdonald said in a press release. “It became my routine, an important way to start my day, and the locals at the park became my community. The song, ‘the List’ was written in the morning before the dog-meet-up, while I was making my to-do list for the day. If I had to sum up the song, it starts with a list of typical things we did in Sweden, and then ventures into a more subconscious list of getting to know the ways my partner has changed, but how my love for her remains the same.”

Moonlight in Visby, Macdonald’s debut LP as Victor Mucho, was produced by Tobias Fröberg. It’s due for release on May 13.

Perfume Genius Announces New Album ‘Ugly Season’

Mike Hadreas has announced his next Perfume Genius album: Ugly Season is out June 17 via Matador. Hadreas also collaborated with visual artist Jacolby Satterwhite for a short film that will accompany the release of the record. Check out the LP’s cover art and tracklist below.

The music of Ugly Season was written for Perfume Genius and choreographer Kate Wallich’s immersive dance piece, The Sun Still Burns Here, which was performed in various cities in the US throughout 2019. The album was produced with longtime collaborator Blake Mills, with contributions from Hadreas’ longtime partner Alan Wyffels.

“This project is the genesis of a whole new direction that I’m taking, one that I’ve been thinking about within this endemic culture, since 2020,” Satterwhite explained in a press release. “Mike and I are both writing scripts. My visual narrative serendipitously mirrors the lyrical direction in his music; it’s a rare, like-minded bond. It’s a creation myth. How do you architecturally mold and render an idealized version of utopia? It’s about making something that you desire so beyond your scope that it’s hard to grapple into a concrete form.”

Perfume Genius recently shared a remix of Charli XCX’s ‘Good Ones’. Last year, he released IMMEIDATELY Remixes, an album of reimagined versions of each track from his 2020 LP Set My Heart on Fire Immediately.

Let’s Eat Grandma Share Video for New Song ‘Levitation’

Let’s Eat Grandma have shared a new track, ‘Levitation’, the final advance single from their forthcoming album Two Ribbons. It follows previous offerings ‘Happy New Year’, ‘Hall of Mirrors’, and the title track. Check out its Noel Paul-directed video below.

“It’s about feeling all over the place, escaping to your imagination and being in a disorientating and surreal mental state, which can be both scary and elevating somehow – everything feels more creative and things look brighter,” the duo’s Rosa Walton explained in a statement. “You’re with someone you’re close to, trying to reach out and connect to them, and even though you’re both struggling, you’re able to find comfort in one another, and have an absurdly funny yet meaningful time together. You begin to see some hope in your future again after a time when you’d started to lose sight of that.”

Two Ribbons is set for release on April 29 via Transgressive.

Bloc Party Release New Song ‘If We Get Caught’

Bloc Party have shared another single from their forthcoming album Alpha Games. This one’s called ‘If We Get Caught’, and it follows previous cuts ‘Sex Magik’, ‘The Girls Are Fighting’, and ‘Traps’. Give it a listen below.

“There are only two songs that I feel like have any tenderness on the record and ‘If We Get Caught’ is one of them,” Kele Okereke explained in a press release. “It’s really about recognising that the game is coming to an end and about trying to steal a moment of tenderness with your partner before the curtain comes crashing down. I think it’s about trying to find moments where you can really connect with someone amidst all of the chaos that’s going on in the world.”

Alpha Games lands on April 29 via Infectious/BMG.

Sound of Ceres Announce New Album Featuring Marina Abramović, Share New Song

Sound of Ceres — the dream-pop project featuring members of Candy Claws – have announced their third album, Emerald Sea. Narrated by acclaimed artist Marina Abramović, the follow-up to 2017’s The Twin comes out June 17 via Joyful Noise. Check out the video for lead single ‘Arm of Golden Flame’ below.

“Venus Caelestis, the morning star, embodiment of innocence and potential, journeys beneath the waves to be reborn as Venus Physica, a new vital force,” the band said of the track in a statement. “The Universe, voiced by Marina Abramović, follows unseen, watching this part of herself as they transform. It’s very important that all aspects of the band’s art (musical, visual, design) come from within, that is why band member Jacob Graham directed this debut video, with set-design and props handmade by all 4 band members.”

Speaking about the collaboration with Abramović, they said: “I believe that Marina’s collaboration with us was inevitable from the very beginning of our audio/visual project formation. While our fated union at our Brooklyn residency in 2017 might feel like chance to some, to me, it felt incredibly foundational. The album making with her felt like years of a slow friendship building up to the creation of art colliding from both the audio and visual art world.”

Abramović added: “My attraction to Sound of Ceres comes from the fact that the music feels so galactic – from a very part of the universe. And they create an emotional impact on my soul.”

beabadoobee Announces New Album ‘Beatopia’, Shares Video for New Single ‘Talk’

beabadoobee has announced her sophomore album Beatopia with a video for the new single ‘Talk’. The follow-up to 2020’s Fake It Flowers will be out on July 15 via Dirty Hit. Check out a music video for ‘Talk’, directed by Alexandra Leese and Luke Casey, below.

“I wrote ‘Talk’ just after my first album,” Bea Kristi said in a press release. “I was obsessed with Tuesday because I thought it was the best night to go out, not too much chaos but just enough to have a good time. Generally, it’s about doing things that aren’t necessarily healthy or great for you, but you can’t help indulging. It’s like that unavoidable feeling that you get. You can’t get rid of it, and you know it’s bad, but you love it really, and it’s whatever, so you do it anyways.”

Last year, beabadoobee released the Our Extended Play EP, which was co-written and produced by the 1975’s Matty Healy and George Daniels.
