Watch Fontaines D.C. Combine Bring Me the Horizon’s ‘Can You Feel My Heart’ and Nirvana’s ‘Heart-Shaped Box’ for triple j

Fontaines D.C. have performed a dreamy rendition of Bring Me the Horizon’s ‘Can You Feel My Heart’ for triple j’s s Like a Version Series, combining it with Nirvana’s ‘Heart-Shaped Box’. As someone who probably grouped those songs together in a playlist as an angsty teenager in the early 2010s, I found the mix quite stirring. Check it out below.

“It was Grian [Chatten]’s idea initially and I think the sound of [‘Can You Feel My Heart’] — the kind of electronic elements and just the general vibe of it — reflects stuff that we were touching on on our last album Romance,” guitarist Conor Curley explained in the behind-the-scenes video. “So it seemed like a good place to start, and it’s a moody, beautiful song.”

On those days when the influx of new tracks is particularly overwhelming, we sift through the noise to bring you a curated list of the most interesting new releases (the best of which will be added to our Best New Songs playlist). Below, check out our track roundup for Thursday, March 20, 2025.

Debby Friday – ‘1/17’

Debby Friday is back with a new song, the sultry and euphoric ‘1/17’, which the Toronto artist co-produced with Darcy Baylis. The accompanying video was directed by Friday and frequent collaborator Kevan Funk. “It’s based on an amalgamation of two experiences that I had,” Friday commented. “The first was when I won the Polaris Prize at Massey Hall, which felt like a peak moment in my career. The second was when, nine months later, I played a festival show to absolutely no one in the audience. I’ve spent the past year detaching myself from the highs and lows of this business and trying to see everything as a sign. Of what? I don’t know. But I’m sure in the end, it’ll all mean something.”

Shanti Celeste – ‘Thinking About You’

Shanti Celeste has announced a new album, Romance, which arrives May 16 and finds the Chilean DJ singing lead across the album for the first time. The meditative yet propulsive lead single ‘Thinking About You’ was written in tribute to a late friend. “I’m thinking about you more than ever,” she sings over and over again. In a statement, Celeste shared, “He was my first boyfriend but also a really good friend. He was a really important person in my life.”

Sex Week – ‘Coat’

Sex Week, the Brooklyn duo of actor and musician Pearl Amanda Dickson and songwriter and producer Richard Orofino, are back with ‘Coat’, which builds on the world they established with their self-titled debut EP. The song seems to sink into oblivion while twisting around their ominous yet delicate voices, keeping them just above the surface.

Bnny – ‘Good Stuff (Edit)’ [feat. Wild Pink]

Bnny have teamed up with Wild Pink’s John Ross for a reworking of the One Million Love Songs highlight ‘Goood Stuff’. Adding a gritty quality to the ethereal track, the new version is taken from the record’s upcoming deluxe edition. “‘Good Stuff’ is one my favorite songs I’ve heard in a while, so I was really excited to work with Jess on an alternate version,” Ross said in a statement. “I’ve listened to it on repeat so many times. It’s such a dreamy song and I thought some heavy baritone guitars could be a different approach for it and I’m really excited about how it turned out.”

Johanna Warren – ‘Nectar’

Johanna Warren has returned with a playfully hypnotic new song, ‘Nectar’, which will appear on the upcoming EP The Night of the Wind. The project, which is based on a book of the same name that Warren illustrated and wrote at the age of three, is billed as “a collaboration 33 years in the making between Johanna Warren and her three-year-old self.” “In some ways this feels like the most terrifyingly vulnerable thing I’ve ever made,” Warren reflected. “The music isn’t about dazzling anyone with sophisticated language or technical acrobatics. It’s about reclaiming something pure and profoundly silly.”

Angel Bat Dawid & Naima Nefertari – ‘Procession of the Equinox’

Angel Bat Dawid has announced a new album made in collaboration with the multidisciplinary artist and musician Naima Nefertari, Journey to Nabta Playa, which arrives on May 2 via Spiritmuse. It’s led by the foreboding ‘Procession of the Equinox’, which is inspired in part by Virginia Hamilton’s The People Could Fly. “They say the people could fly,” Hamilton wrote. “Say that long ago in Africa, some of the people knew magic. And they would walk up on the air like climbin’ up on a gate. And they flew like blackbirds over the fields. Black, shiny wings flappin’ against the blue up there.”

Nell Smith – ‘Billions of People’

Bella Union has shared ‘Billions of People’, the latest offering from Nell Smith’s posthumous debut solo album Anxious. The driving single was written in September 2022 with Canadian band Shred Kelly in Fernie BC, reflecting on her visit to the UK on tour with The Flaming Lips earlier that year. Shred Kelly commented: “We met every week to work on songwriting together and, if I remember correctly, Nell brought the chorus of ‘Billions of People’ to the session. About 30 minutes in, she got a message from someone who she had a connection with who was leaving town and she said she was going to bike down to the bridge to say goodbye and be back in a few minutes. She wasn’t sure when she’d see them again. That fuelled the inspiration for the verses of the song that we wrote that day, and the rest of the song came together pretty effortlessly.”

Eric Church – ‘Hands of Time’

Eric Church has announced a new album, Evangeline Vs. the Machine, which arrives on May 2. Today, he’s shared the single ‘Hands of Time’, which was co-written with Scooter Carusoe and includes shout-outs to Bob Seger, Tom Petty, Meat Loaf, and Kris Kristofferson, among others.

Couch Prints – ‘Hall Lights’

New York duo Couch Prints have announced Pitbull 2, the follow-up to 2023’s Waterfall: Rebirth. It comes out in May, and the alluring lead single ‘Hall Lights’ is out now. “It’s the soundtrack to a friendship splintering into the unknown — one foot anchored in a memory, the other stumbling ahead,” they shared.

Jolie Laide – ‘Holly’

Jolie Laide have put out ‘Holly’, an interesting new single from their upcoming LP Creatures. “‘Holly’ is a song about two strangers meeting at the edge of a dense forest and a sunbaked clearing,” the band explained. “They begin a conversation as one asks the other, a girl named Holly ‘Where’d you get that long brown hair’ alluding to the long lock of braided hair in her hands — clearly not her own. The other stranger goes on to share what has transpired in his life; rambling through the post-apocalyptic wasteland they both inhabit.”

Georgia Harmer – ‘Little Light’

Georgia Harmer has unveiled a beautifully serene and understated song called ‘Can We Be Still’. In a statement, she described it as “an homage to a very peaceful place out in the country where I lived for a few months, and a new love taking root. It’s a very hopeful song, about being led to inner solace, and feeling like the blinds are being opened to let the light in a little bit more than they’d ever really been. It’s a song about tranquility and reverence, for the place I was in, physically and emotionally, and trying to take in the beauty that surrounded me and let it seep inward enough to make me feel like I could be part of it.”

Are Lithium Marine Starting Batteries Good For a Boat?

Powering the fuel powered outboard motor is important for water trip. Traditional lead-acid batteries have been the go-to option for years, but advancements in technology have made LiFePO4 starting batteries an attractive alternative.

But are lithium marine starting batteries really good for boats? Let’s explore their benefits and whether they are the right choice for your marine adventures.

Why Consider Lithium Marine Starting Batteries?

LiFePO4 lithium marine batteries provide many advantages over lead acid, such as weight, lifespan, depth of discharge and so on.Below are some details.

1. Lightweight & Compact

A lithium marine starting battery is significantly lighter than traditional lead-acid batteries. This weight reduction improves your boat’s speed, fuel efficiency, and overall handling.

2. Higher Power Output

Unlike lead-acid batteries, which experience voltage drops under load, LiFePO4 starting batteries provide consistent power. This ensures a reliable and quick engine start, even in cold or demanding conditions.

3. Longer Lifespan

Lithium batteries last much longer than lead-acid options, often exceeding 3,000-5,000 charge cycles. This means fewer replacements over time, saving you money and maintenance hassle.

4. Faster Charging

Lithium marine batteries charge up to five times faster than lead-acid alternatives. With a properly matched charger, you can reduce downtime and maximize your time on the water.

5. Maintenance-Free Operation

Unlike lead-acid batteries, which require regular maintenance (checking water levels and cleaning terminals), lithium batteries are completely maintenance-free.

6. Deep Discharge Without Damage

Lead-acid batteries suffer from capacity loss if deeply discharged too often. Lithium batteries, however, can be discharged down to 80-90% of their capacity without affecting performance or lifespan.

Are There Any Downsides?

While lithium marine starting batteries offer numerous advantages, there are a few considerations:

  • Higher Upfront Cost – Lithium batteries typically cost more initially, but their longer lifespan and performance benefits make them a cost-effective choice in the long run.
  • Compatibility Issues – Some older boat electrical systems may need slight modifications to accommodate lithium batteries. However, many modern marine lithium batteries are designed to be drop-in replacements for lead-acid models.
  • Charging Requirements – Lithium batteries require specific chargers that are compatible with their chemistry. Ensure that your boat’s charging system is compatible or invest in a suitable charger to avoid damaging the battery.

How Many CCA Does a Lithium Marine Starting Battery Provide?

Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) is a crucial factor when selecting a starting battery, as it determines how well your battery can start the engine in cold conditions. Traditional lead-acid batteries are rated based on their ability to deliver a high current for 30 seconds at 0°F (-18°C) without dropping below 7.2V. However, LiFePO4 starting batteries operate differently.

Unlike lead-acid batteries, lithium batteries do not experience significant voltage drops under load. This allows them to deliver instant, high-power bursts necessary to start marine engines efficiently. While the CCA rating of lithium batteries may appear lower on paper compared to their lead-acid counterparts, their higher sustained voltage output ensures better cranking performance.

For marine applications, most boats require a battery with 500–1,000 CCA depending on the size and type of the engine. Smaller outboard motors(<30 HP) typically need 500–600 CCA, while larger inboard or diesel engines (>200 Horse power) may require 800–1,000 CCA for reliable starting.

The LiTime Marine Cranking Batteries provide 800 -1000 CCA for reliable starting using.

Conclusion: Are Lithium Marine Starting Batteries Worth It?

So, are lithium marine starting batteries good for boats? The answer is a resounding yes for many boaters. With advantages such as weight savings, longer lifespan, faster charging, and consistent power output, the LiFePO4 starting battery stands out as an excellent choice for marine applications.

If you’re considering upgrading your boat’s battery system, it’s worth exploring the benefits of lithium technology. With careful consideration of your specific needs and conditions, you can enhance your boating experience with the right battery choice.

Become a Pro at Percussion: Tips and Tricks!

If you are already into music, it can be fun to add some new skills. Maybe you produce a lot of music with drum samples, because you always find it hard to think of percussion yourself. Time to learn some percussion, because if you have a musical talent, learning percussion is not that hard. In this article, we share a few tips and tricks to become a pro at percussion!

Start small

If you want to start with percussion, you need to know that having a feeling for rhythm is not enough. The movements you make with your hands and sometimes your feet, can be a little bit overwhelming in the beginning. Your brain needs to get used to these movements and it requires a lot of muscle memory to play percussion without even thinking. Whether you want to learn from tutorials, or take a teacher. It is important to start really small.

Instruments

When you want to learn percussion to use in your music productions, it can be a good idea to have electric drums. You can wear your headphones while playing, so the neighbours won’t be bothered, and you can record via MIDI. A cowbell and conga and other small percussion instruments can add a nice addition to a production. You can record them with a microphone. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different rhythms and instruments. After all: that’s how you learn!

Learn the theory behind it all

When you have a feeling for rhythm, you don’t need to be able to read sheet music when you want to produce cool songs. You might feel like there is no need to learn difficult theory, because you can feel the beat. Nevertheless it can be a good idea to learn the theory anyway. It can be very helpful to be aware of the count and to know which rhythm patterns are good for a certain genre. If you are aware of the count, you will be able to play patterns that are way more advanced. You can learn a lot of that online, but a real teacher can give you feedback that’s meant for you especially.

Play along

If you want to practise different ways of performing a certain rhythm or if you want to experiment with different patterns, it can be helpful to play along to music that already exists. Just put on any number you like and try to play along with the beat or go against it! You can be as creative as you want while having a lead that can help you to improvise. If you do this everyday for twenty minutes, you will be a pro in no time.

Best Moisturizers for Bald Men: Comprehensive Investigative Review

Caring for a bald head isn’t as simple as slapping on any lotion or moisturizer.

Unlike those with hair, bald men have directly exposed skin that faces daily environmental stress—from sun exposure to cold air and pollution.

Yet, the market still lacks products formulated explicitly for bald scalps, leaving many men resorting to face creams, body lotions, or aftershave balms—none of which are genuinely designed for a bald head’s unique needs.

The reality?

Most skincare products aren’t made for the scalp.

They can be too greasy, thick, or packed with ingredients that clog pores, cause breakouts, or create an unnatural shine.

Without proper hydration, a bald scalp quickly becomes dry, irritated, and flaky—especially after shaving.

This is why choosing the right bald-head moisturizer is crucial. The ideal product should hydrate, soothe, and protect without leaving the scalp greasy or sticky. In this investigative review, we break down the best scalp moisturizers explicitly designed for bald men—comparing ingredients, effectiveness, and real user experiences to help you find the perfect product for your daily routine.

Why Moisturizing Matters for Bald Heads

The scalp is often more sensitive than other areas of the skin, especially after shaving. Many bald men experience dry scalp, razor bumps, and irritation due to a lack of moisture.

A good moisturizer helps maintain scalp health by providing hydration, reducing flakiness, and preventing excessive shine.

A moisturizer can soothe post-shave irritation for those who still shave regularly while keeping the scalp smooth.

Since the scalp is being shaved constantly throughout the week, choosing a moisturizer that doubles as an aftershave balm or healing balm to reduce irritation and promote faster recovery is essential.

Neglecting hydration can lead to discomfort, itching, and even long-term skin damage. Using scalp moisturizers supports healthy skin, enhances blood circulation, and ensures a comfortable, irritation-free experience.

Factors to Consider When Choosing Moisturizers

When selecting a moisturizer for a bald head, several factors come into play

  • Natural Ingredients: For soothing and hydrating properties, opt for products with tea tree oil, shea butter, coconut oil, aloe vera, almond oil, and vitamin E.
  • Product Texture: A non-greasy, fast-absorbing, lightweight, and mattifying formula ensures a comfortable feel without excessive shine.
  • Skin Compatibility: Choose a moisturizer suited for sensitive Since everyone’s scalp reacts differently, testing may be needed to find the best match.
  • Additional Features: Some products include SPF protection for sun defense or essential oils for a refreshing fragrance.

Best Trending Nail Designs in 2025

0

A new year, a fresh start, and all the possibilities for your nails. 2025 is bringing bold and creative designs that push the boundaries of nail art. Some trends are subtle, and others are more daring. This year’s styles are anything but boring.

2025 is all about self-expression, so expect new takes on classics, futuristic designs, and textures you have never seen before. Think chrome finishes that catch the light just right, abstract patterns like tiny works of art, and delicate details.

Let’s explore the boldest, most creative nail trends shaping 2025.

1. Aura Nails

You like the vibe of the magnetic polish but don’t want to commit to the shine? Inspired by energy fields and color gradients, aura nails are everywhere. These dreamy, airbrushed designs feature a soft glow of color radiating from the center of the nail. Do this if you are trying to lean into your mystical, ethereal aesthetic and customize it with any color combination. Try soft pinks and purples, blue and green, or bold red and orange.

2. 3D Embellishments

If you are a maximalist at heart, this is a trend you’ll love because texture is everything in 2025. Think pearls, studs, or even mini crystals. You can go for a subtle accent or full-on sculptural nails, where your nail artist will create something unique just for you. What would that be? Anything your heart desires: mini food charms, pop culture icons, nature-inspired charms, or celestial elements.

3. Micro French Tips

French tips never really go out of style, but they are constantly changing. Instead of the classic thick white tip, micro French manicures have a thin line in white or unexpected colors like neon pink, metallic gold, or even lilac. A modern twist on a timeless favorite.

4. Soap Nails

Nude, but better. Soap nails give a fresh, clean look with a sheer finish that mimics the glow of a bubble. They’re soft, sophisticated, and just the right touch of new. This trend focuses on healthy, glossy nails with a naturally polished look.

5. Magnetic Cat-Eye Nails

One trend carrying over from 2024 (and continuing its 2000s legacy) is magnetic cat-eye nails. This hypnotic style creates a shifting, dimensional effect using magnetic polish. With a simple swipe of a magnet, you get a shifting effect that looks futuristic and fun. It works great for cashmere nails too, turning nail looks into soft, velvety finishes. And the best part? The sky is the limit: turn it into hearts, French tips, or even moons and stars.

Moontype Announce New Album, Share New Single ‘Four Hands ii’

Moontype have announced I Let the Wind Push Down On Me, the follow-up to their 2021 debut Bodies of Water. The 11-track LP, produced by Katie Von Schleicher and Nate Mendelsohn, arrives May 23 via Orindal. It includes the previously released single ‘Long Country’, which marked the band’s signing to Owen Ashworth’s label, as well as the sparkling and dynamic new track ‘Four Hands ii’. Check it out and find the album cover and tracklist below.

“This one is about desire,” singer/bassist Margaret McCarthy said of ‘Four Hands ii’. “Body desire, but it’s the same as the feeling of needing to drive really fast with the windows down and the music loud.”

“It took a while for us to figure this one out, but it’s become one of our favorites to play,” she continued. “I think the trick was finding the shape, the swells and the dips.”
