Preoccupations have announced they have a new album on the way. Titled Arrangements, the follow-up to 2018’s New Material is slated to arrive on September 9 – Flemish Eye will handle the record’s Canadian release, with the band self-releasing it in the rest of the world. “The lyrics are pretty conspicuous and self-explanatory on this one, but it’s basically about the world blowing up and no one giving a shit,” lead vocalist and songwriter Matthew Flegel said of the new track in a statement.

London quintet High Vis, who recently announced their signing to Dais Records, have shared the details of their new album. Blending is set to land on September 9, and it includes the new single ‘Fever Dream’. Simon B. Wellington directed the song’s accompanying video, which you can check out below.
“‘Fever Dream’ was written during the hottest days of summer and is about a kind of existential aimlessness that is at its best and worst during that time of the year – when it’s easy to feel more alive, but the longer, empty days can do bad things to overactive minds,” guitarist Martin Macnamara explained in a press release. “Musically it walks a narrow line between that sense of hope and despair but emphasises the former by nodding towards a baggy, swirling Northern sound.”
“The video for ‘Fever Dream’ was shot over the course of three years and assembled as a kaleidoscopic document of the highs and lows of life as a band,” Wellington commented. “Through intimate studio, tour and live footage we were aiming to capture the essence of a band bridging the gap between nostalgic reflection and a newly realized optimism. It’s the sound of summer in the capital; chaotic nights blending into aimless days.”

Enumclaw have announced their debut LP: Save the Baby is set to arrive on October 14 via Luminelle Recordings. Following their 2021 debut EP Jimbo Demo and recent single ‘2002’, the album was produced by Gabe Wax (Soccer Mommy, Adrianne Lenker, Fleet Foxes). Today’s announcement comes with the release of the new song ‘Jimmy Neutron’, which is accompanied by a visual from director John C. Peterson. Titus Andronicus have returned with their first new music in three years: a cover of Cock Sparrer’s 1982 punk anthem ‘We’re Coming Back’. The track arrives with a music video created by the band’s Patrick Stickles in collaboration with filmmaker Ray Concepcion. Watch and listen below.
“All I can tell you right now is that Cock Sparrer gave us the most open-hearted and uplifting song in all of British punk’s second wave, perhaps even of any wave, foreign or domestic,” Stickles commented in a statement. “I have wept to this song many times over the years, and it is a joy to share our version with the world, especially since it afforded me the opportunity to work once again with the inimitable Ray Concepcion.”
“I do not claim to be any kind of athlete,” Stickles continued, “and after three intense days of shooting this video, I have been, and continue to be, more sore than ever before. It’s rough getting old, but I have never shied from suffering for my art, nor do I intend to pursue a path of such cowardice in the future.”
“It’s right there in the title,” he concluded. “There’s nothing more to say… we’re coming back.”
Art Moore – the project of Boy Scouts’ Taylor Vick and Ezra Furman collaborators Sam Duerkes and Trevor Brook – have shared a new single called ‘A Different Life’. It’s lifted from their upcoming self-titled debut LP, which includes the previously unveiled tracks ‘Muscle Memory’ and ‘Snowy’. Check it out below.
“‘A Different Life’ was inspired by the experience of daydreaming up another version of your life,” Vick explained in a statement. “I can easily get caught up in the imaginary worlds in my head, overwhelmed by the endless possibilities and versions of me that exist within them. But I am most fascinated by the version just parallel to this one, the one with only a few differences or enhancements. This song is about the experience of longing for that not so far off possibility.”
Nina Nastasia has released the latest single from her upcoming LP. ‘Afterwards’ follows previous outings ‘This Is Love’ and ‘Just Stay in Bed’, and you can listen to it below.
Nastasia said in a statement about the new song:
I don’t believe in ghosts…so far, but dead people can stick around for the longest time. They can tell you what to do and stop you from doing. I have no interest in finding out that ghosts exist. In fact I really hope they don’t. Things are complicated enough.
Riderless Horse, Nastasia’s first album in 12 years, arrives on July 22 via Temporary Residence.
Julia Jacklin has unveiled a new single from her upcoming album PRE PLEASURE. It’s called ‘I Was Neon’, and it follows lead cut ‘Lydia Wears a Cross’. Check out its accompanying self-directed video, filmed in Melbourne, below.
“I first wrote ‘I was neon’ for a band called rattlesnack, a short-lived much loved 2019 side project that I played drums in,” Jacklin explained in a press release. “I rewrote it for my album in Montreal, during a time when I was desperately longing for a version of myself that I feared was gone forever. I was thinking of this song when I made the album cover, this song is the album cover really.”
Wyldest, the moniker of singer-songwriter Zoe Mead, has announced a new album titled Feed The Flowers Nightmares. The follow-up to 2021’s Monthly Friend comes out September 9 via Hand In Hive. To accompany the announcement, Wyldest has shared the album’s lead single, ‘Abilene’, which you can check out below.
Speaking about the new track, Mead explained in a statement:
Abilene is about someone I love and miss dearly. We spent a lot of time together within the space of a few years and it’s always tough accepting that a time is over. Sharing creative goals with people can create particularly intense relationships. Performing music for example, you get to know people in such an intimate way – touring and having amazing/challenging times together.
This particular friend needed to move back to her home country and it just wasn’t feasible to make music together anymore, l felt a little exposed, like a cushion that had been propping me up for 3 years had been pulled out from behind me.
Following the release of Monthly Friend, Mead began collaborating with Dama Scout‘s Luciano Rossi in an attempt to find a way out of writer’s block, and the pair bonded over shared influences including Jon Brion, Mica Levi, Johnny Greenwood, and the video game Doom. The new LP features the previously shared track ‘The Best Is Yet To Come’.

Jockstrap – the London-based duo of Georgia Ellery and Taylor Skye – have announced their debut album. It’s called I Love You Jennifer B, and it arrives September 9 via Rough Trade Records. Lead single ‘Glasgow’ is out today, alongside an accompanying video directed and edited by the band themselves. Check it out below.
“I Love You Jennifer B is a collection of Jockstrap tracks that have been 3 years in the making,” the duo explained in a press release. “Everything on it is pretty singular sounding so we hope there is a track on there for everyone and something that speaks to you and says ‘I’m a banger.’”
Of the new single, Skye added: “‘Glasgow’ is our coming of age, moving forward, long-distance, travelling, beautiful bosk, wonderful thicket song.” Ellery commented: “Glasgow is a great city, perhaps my favourite in the UK. Only downside is that it’s so damn cold all the time.”

Television is a medium that is continually evolving. The Golden Age, which in my opinion, is the 90s TV shows that preceded Peak TV, has gradually given way to the Age of Reboots, Revivals, and Remakes. It corresponds with the comparable Age of Adaptations, resulting in what can feel like a world devoid of innovation as studios attempt to counteract the vast volume of content available with well-known titles, famous faces, and built-in audiences. However, when done well, revivals and reboots have the potential to offer something to a current program, either by bringing closure where none existed or by updating and exploring alternative stories to discover previously untapped depths.
So, with this in mind, I have compiled the list below of what I believe to be the best TV show reboots and revivals. Here goes nothing…
Twin Peaks – The original Twin Peaks, created by Mark Frost and David Lynch, became a defining, albeit brief, phenomenon of the 1990s. Their resurgence transformed the surrealist small-town mystery into a relentlessly hallucinogenic, shockingly poignant, dimension-hopping vision of a world gone insane.
Cobra Kai – Cobra Kai continues the Karate Kid brand with a mix of deliciously cheesy nostalgia and teen angst, heightened by a well-written ensemble of characters.
Fuller House – In the Netflix relaunch of Full House, viewers got to revisit the Tanners for five seasons of family-friendly bliss. The first season aired from 1987 through 1995, and the revival premiered 21 years later. This time, the sitcom centered on a mature DJ Tanner as she raised her small family with the assistance of her sister, Stephanie, and best friend, Kimmy. In addition, many of the show’s other original stars made cameos, including Bob Saget, John Stamos, and Dave Coulier.
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life – If you grew up watching Gilmore Girls on repeat, the four-part Netflix special Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life, starring the show’s original castmates Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, and Kelly Bishop, is required viewing.
One Day at a Time – Norman Lear’s 1970s sitcom about a single mother raising two teenage daughters was revived as the much more topical story of a Cuban-American Army vet with two children, a theatrical mother, and a knack for getting caught up in every hot-button issue of the day. It became the unusual show to survive Netflix cancellation after being a delightful and comforting blend of old and new.
Lost in Space – This has been one of Netflix’s most popular shows. It’s simple to understand why: the reboot pulls a Battlestar Galactica and adds weight to the 1965 original’s shipwrecked in space premise. It’s not flawless, but it’s worth a look.
Doctor Who – Doctor Who is the longest-running science fiction television series in history, premiering on the BBC in 1963 and following the adventures of a Time Lord known as the Doctor, an alien who seems to be human. After 26 seasons, the original show was canceled in 1989, and an attempt to resurrect it in the 1990s was a flop. It wasn’t until Russell T. Davies rebooted the show in 2005 that fans were genuinely reintroduced to the beloved sci-fi classic. Many talented actors, including David Tennant, Matt Smith, and Peter Capaldi, have played the legendary Doctor.
Saved by the Bell – Bayside High School remains the same. This flawlessly teases the first one’s old-school status while remaining unique. Peacock is killing it when it comes to making this program seem special, and it’s easily one of the most excellent reboots on the list.
Gossip Girl – It took a few episodes for HBO Max’s revival to establish itself, but Gossip Girl is now back. And this time, it’s even more gorgeous, romantically fluid, and mysterious than before. This time, these Upper East Siders must peel back two different facades: Manhattan’s most elite’s fake smiles and even less authentic Instagram pages.
Bel-Air – Back in the 1990s, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was a must-see teatime show. It turned a teenage Will Smith into an acting sensation at a time when he was best recognized for rapping with DJ Jazzy Jeff. The series aired from 1990 until 1996. Morgan Cooper, a fan of the show, shot and posted a dramatic remake of the sitcom on YouTube in 2019. And, as they say, the rest is history.
