Narcos Return in 2024: Latest News, Rumors, & Potential New Series

0

Are you a Narcos fan or fan of TV series focused on drugs and crime? If yes, this article is only for you as we cover the official announcements about the potential Narco’s Return in 2024, and other new series surrounding it.

Will Narcos Return in 2024?

Narco’s official account tweeted a statement: “The cage is open, and now the animals run free,” followed by news that it would be the final chapter of this series.

There are dozens of rumours on social media about Narco’s return in 2024, but these are all false, as there’s no official announcement. However, in an interview with Bernard exposing the possibilities of Narcos’ new season, he said, “There aren’t any plans; honestly, this is the sort of the end of the ride, for now at least.” So, it is confirmed that there’s no Narcos return in 2024.

The third season of Narcos: Mexico premiered on November 5 November 5, 2021, on Netflix as the the story’s final outing. In this season, a woman narrated the action for the first time in this history. Luisa Robino brings up the mantle of Pedro Pascal, Scoot McNairy, and Boyd Holbrook as journalist Andrea Nuñez, whose concentration on revealing corruption takes her to a huge scoop of her career. Narcos: Mexico started to discover the origins of the latest drug war and was continuing to Mexico City back in 1980 to graph the fall and rise of the Félix Gallardo and Guadalajara Cartel.

Why did Narcos end?

One of the co-creators of Narcos, Carlo Bernard, reported to a Hollywood reporter why Narcos was coming to warp. “I saw this season as an original story of the modern world where we live. For me, it felt like brining the show up to that spot where we now recognize, for better or for worse, made sense as a place to stop it. The show has been able to lift the curtains and show you how things began and how it evolved.”

New Project of Narcos: A Limited Series Griselda Blanco

In short, Netflix announced the latest project from the Narcos team titled “a limited series focused on Griselda Blanco,” released on January 25 January, 2024. Its story is based on a Colombian drug queen who was one of the most daring cocaine traffickers and was found to be a key personality in Miami’s drug war in the 1980s. And this queen character was played by Sofia Vergara.

Bernard, Newman, Doug Miro, Baiz, Ingrid Escajeda, and the other Narcos creative teams have worked on certain project sets. However, Netflix focuses on the fact that the show is not a spin-off of its factual drug cartel story.

Molly Drag Announces New Album ‘Mammoth’, Shares New Single ‘Dogfight’

Molly Drag – the project of Montreal-based artist Michael Charles Hansford – has announced a new album called Mammoth. The follow-up to 2021’s Resemble Another lands on May 24 through I’m Into Life Records. Today’s announcement comes with the release of the new track ‘Dogfight’, which opens the LP. Give it a listen below.

“’Dogfight’ was originally a slow ballad I started writing a year before I even started recording it,” Hansford said in a statement. “One late night before early in the album sessions I decided to speed it up double time without changing the timing structure of the vocal melody. I was listening to a lot of The Smiths at the time so I think that had an influence. Lyrically this song is about two lovers drifting from each other but still remaining in each other’s thoughts through the course of their long lives.”

Owen Unveils New Songs ‘Virtue Misspent’ and ‘Hit and Run’

Mike Kinsella has released two songs from his upcoming Owen album, The Falls of Sioux. ‘Virtue Misspent’ and ‘Hit and Run’ follow lead single ‘Beaucoup’. Below, check out the video for ‘Virtue Misspent’, directed by Alec Basse and Max Moore, and listen to ‘Hit and Run’.

“‘Virtue Misspent’ is an homage to one of my all-time favorite bands, New Order,” Kinsella shared in a statement. “The guitar part always sounded to me like a Peter Hook bassline, so I sort of leaned into that in the studio by adding synth strings and plugging the electric guitar straight into the board, etc. The video is an homage to me, having lived a life and having fucked up a lot along the way.”

Directors Basse and Moore commented: “Listening to the song feels like that last look at your past and the roller coaster of emotions that can follow. A taste of the universal nostalgia that we all experience. To visualize that emotion, we aimed to recreate the adventures of our own youth. An amalgamation of all of the fond memories and perfect days experienced in the Midwest. A bit of boyhood wonder, a little rebellion, and a touch of genuine friendship. To capture these illusions we basically just let the boys play. We created these scenarios and then told them to let loose, have fun. Luckily the boys were excellent and we ended up with something that we think resonates and feels honest.”

Of ‘Hit and Run’, Kinsella added: “There’s usually one song on each of my ow(e)n albums that makes me cry, and this is the one this time.”

The Falls of Sioux arrives April 26 on Polyvinyl/Big Scary Monsters.

Crumb Announce New Album ‘AMAMA’, Share Video for New Single

Crumb have announced their third LP, AMAMA, the follow-up to 2021’s Ice Melt. It’s set to arrive on May 17 through Crumb Records, and the album’s title track, an ode to singer Lila Ramani’s grandmother, is out today. Check it out and find the album cover and tracklist below.

“‘AMAMA’ is dedicated to my namesake, my grandmother, whose voice is sampled throughout the song,” Ramani shared in a statement. “A video sent to me over WhatsApp of her singing originally inspired the melody and ethos of the song, from which I built its glitchy, warped foundation. It’s a love song! My partner and Crumb’s creative director [Abraham El Makawy] directed the video, which combines his family’s archival footage of the neighbourhood we grew up in, home videos from the band, as well as drawings from 702 fans who helped us animate the last part of the video. The song is the title track and spiritual centre of our new album.”

Mdou Moctar Release New Song ‘Imouhar’

Mdou Moctar have released a new song, ‘Imouhar’. It’s the second single from the band’s upcoming album Funeral for Justice, following the title track. Check out the Lauren Greenhall-directed video for it below.

‘Imouhar’ calls on the Tuareg people, to which Moctar belongs, to preserve their Tamasheq language, which is at risk of dying out. “People here are just using French,” the guitarist said in a press release. “They’re starting to forget their own language. We feel like in a hundred years no one will speak good Tamasheq, and that’s so scary for us.”

Funeral for Justice, the follow-up to 2019’s Afrique Victime, drops on May 3 via Matador.

DIIV Drop New Single ‘Everyone Out’

DIIV have previewed their fourth album, Frog in Boiling Water, with a new track called ‘Everyone Out’. It follows previous cuts ‘Brown Paper Bag’ and ‘Soul-Net’. Check it out below.

‘Everyone Out’ “utilizes a softer and more textural sonic pallet: acoustic instruments, layered tape loops and synthesizers,” the band explained in a press release. “The song is emotional and intimate and could be interpreted as either hopeful or cynical. It may or may not be a character study centering around a quick transition from youthful naivety to bitter disillusionment. This loss of hope may be manifest in a desire to leave society completely or to accelerate its collapse. Or maybe both, or neither.”

Frog in Boiling Water is set for release on May 24 via Fantasy Records.

Jessica Pratt Releases New Song ‘World on a String’

Jessica Pratt has unveiled a new song called ‘World on a String’. It’s the second single off her forthcoming album Here in the Pitch, following lead cut ‘Life Is’. Kate Bollinger directed the track’s accompanying video, which you can check out below.

“On this track I was influenced by the swaying, naive brilliance of ‘lost’ teenage garage rock bands, as well as enduring loves like The Nazz and GBV,” Pratt explained in a statement. “Record the song moments after you’ve learned it on an instrument you’ve just picked up. Oftentimes, that’s all you need.”

Here in the Pitch, the follow-up to 2019’s Quiet Signs, arrives on May 3 via City Slang and Mexican Summer in the US.

John Cale Announces New Album ‘POPtical Illusion’, Shares New Single

John Cale has announced a new album titled POPtical Illusion. The follow-up to last year’s MERCY is set to arrive on June 14 via Double Six/Domino. Today’s announcement comes with the release of the new single ‘How We See the Light’, paired with a video from director Pepi Ginsberg. Watch and listen below.

POPtical Illusion was produced by Cale and longtime collaborator Nita Scott in his Los Angeles studio. In contrast to MERCY, which featured collaborations with Animal Collective, Weyes Blood, Sylvan Esso, Laurel Halo, and more, the new album finds him burrowing “mostly alone into mazes of synthesizers and samples, organs and pianos, with words that, as far as Cale goes, constitute a sort of swirling hope, a sage insistence that change is yet possible,” according to a press release.
