Zola Jesus Releases Video for New Song ‘The Fall’

Zola Jesus has shared a new single from her forthcoming album Arkhon. ‘The Fall’ follows previous offerings ‘Lost’ and ‘Desire’. Check out its Jenni Hensler-directed video below.

“I wrote ‘The Fall’ for myself,” Nika Roza Danilova explained in a press release. “It was an exercise in using music as a tool for the sake of my own inner catharsis. I had a lot of turmoil and complicated emotions that I couldn’t process in any other way. I suppose some feelings require you to write a pop song in order to fully understand them. For that reason, this song is very precious to me.”

Commenting on the video, she added: “Working with Jenni Hensler as a director was such a soul-feeding experience. She’s someone I’ve been collaborating with for ten years, and a dear friend to me. I value her own artistic perspective so much that at some point I realized there was no one else I could trust with my vision. We connected on an emotional and spiritual level regarding the intent of the song, and then I handed it over and let her make her magic. I’ve never felt so freed by a collaboration. And working with choreographer Sigrid Lauren was such an empowering experience. She was able to interpret and support my idiosyncratic movements in a way that allowed me to feel free in the moment.”

Arkohn is idue for release on June 24 via Sacred Bones.

Braxe + Falcon Release New Song ‘Elevation’ Featuring Sunni Colón

Braxe + Falcon, the duo of French house musicians and cousins Alan Braxe and DJ Falcon, have shared a new song called ‘Elevation’, featuring Sunni Colón. It’s taken from their upcoming debut EP, Step By Step, which is out June 24 via Smugglers Way. The duo previously shared the EP’s title track, a collaboration with Panda Bear, and ‘Creative Source’. Check out ‘Elevation’ below.

“It all started at the entrance of a recording studio in Biarritz, France on a very hot day during a heatwave,” Braxe said of the new song in a statement. “We played Sunni five or six demos, he picked up one and almost instantly wrote lyrics and melody, it was all soft and melancholic, perfectly matching the music. We took a break outside, the temperature was rising, unbearable, back in the studio, the song was acting like a refreshment, cooling our bodies and mind and we all felt like we were onto something special. That’s the magic with recording sessions, interactions between new encounters, external factors, all of it in a limited time trying to capture emotions.”

Angel Olsen Unveils New Single ‘Through the Fires’

Angel Olsen has unveiled a new song, ‘Through the Fires’, lifted from her forthcoming LP Big Time. It follows early single ‘All The Good Times’ and the album’s title track. Listen to it below.

“’Through The Fires’ is the centerpiece statement of this record,” Olsen explained in a  statement. “It’s a song I wrote to remind myself that this life is temporary, the past is not something to dwell on, that it’s important to keep moving, keep searching for the people that are also searching, and to notice the moments that are lighter and big.

Big Time is set to arrive on June 3 via Jagjaguwar.

She & Him Announce Brian Wilson Covers Album, Release Video for ‘Darlin’’

She & Him, the duo of Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward, have announced a new album titled Melt Away: A Tribute to Brian Wilson. Set for release on July 22 via Fantasy, the record includes their cover of ‘Darlin’ off 1967’s Wild Honey, which is out today. Give it a listen below.

“In the spring of 2020, we started a list of our favorite Brian songs—a very long list,” She & Him said in a statement. “We chose songs without any regard to their chart performance. The obscure ones hit us just as hard as the more popular songs—and all are ripe for re-imagining, re-interpreting, and re-inventing. Brian writes songs of beauty and loneliness and vulnerability better than anyone—and by sequencing them next to popular songs of confidence and love and fun, it creates a more complete picture of life on earth.”

Wilson added: “Zooey and Matt did such mind-blowing versions of our songs. The harmonies are beautiful and right on. I love this record!”

I Guess Nothing Will Be The Same marks Liss’ first material since the death of lead singer Søren Holm in May 2021. “Søren constantly sought out new music and always shared his discoveries with everyone around him,” the band said of the new single in a statement. “He was never afraid to reach out to those people who inspired him. ‘Boys in Movies’ is a track that has had several different identities. It found its direction when we shared it with Nilüfer Yanya, who helped us highlight the energy and gave the song a whole new dimension.”

Launder Enlists Soko for New Single ‘Become’

Launder has shared a new song, ‘Become’, which features lead vocals from Soko. It’s taken from Launder’s upcoming full-length debut, Happening, which arrives on July 15 via Ghostly and includes the early singles ‘Chipper’ and ‘Unwound’. Listen below.

“This is the most collaborative track on the record,” Launder’s John Cudlip said in a statement about the song, which was co-written with Jackson Phillips (Day Wave) and Zachary Cole Smith (DIIV). “I couldn’t have made this song what it is by myself.”

Soko elaborated: “’Become’ is about being stuck in situations where you know you deserve better, but it still drags you down. And you know deep down that to become your best self you have to break through thick layers of detangling old patterns and live with intention. Become the majestic lion you know you are… It’s also about the duality of anxiety: being stuck between feeling small and wanting to break free.”

fanclubwallet Shares New Single ‘You Have Got To Be Kidding Me’

Ahead of its release this Friday, fanclubwallet has unveiled the title track from her forthcoming debut album You Have Got To Be Kidding Me. It follows earlier singles ‘Gr8 Timing!’, ‘Trying to Be Nice’, and ‘That I Won’t Do’. Check out a video for it below.

“Sometimes people can be really mean to you and try to pass it off as a joke,” Hannah Judge said in a press statement. “That’s what the song ‘You Have Got To Be Kidding Me’ is about. It’s about reflecting on ways you’ve been mistreated and ways you’ve maybe acted not so much like yourself because of it. Lyrically it’s a little sad and a little tongue and cheek but for me this song instrumentally really feels like moving on after something bad has happened.”
